Just had a great chat with Anshula Verma, Director and National Head at EY and Amit Babbar,Senior Director TA at Roblox diving into the nitty-gritty of how global economic shifts are shaking up the world of talent sourcing. Anshula laid it out plain and simple – remote work is in, and we've bid farewell to the old-school obsession with pedigrees in favor of a more down-to-earth skill-based hiring approach. Meanwhile, Amit got real about remote work, AI tools, and how they're shaping a hiring future that's got us all buzzing. Our conversation delved into the realms of upskilling initiatives, strategic investments in talent teams, and fostering industry-academia collaborations to enhance organizational culture and productivity. Amit, a trailblazer in executing TA strategies, has successfully scaled three companies, transforming a one-person TA team into a powerhouse with hundreds of professionals. Anshula, drawing from her extensive leadership experience, shared a pivotal piece of advice for the TA community: the power of questioning and the art of acquiring knowledge through inquiry. It was an enriching discussion, and I invite you to explore the insights shared. Let's continue to elevate the discourse and shape the future of talent acquisition together! #instahyre #TalentAcquisition #GlobalShifts #LeadershipInsights

📢 Reflection on My Recent Posts: Building a Team in the Share Market Space Over the past few weeks, I’ve seen some of my posts go viral, attracting incredible engagement and applications from people interested in the share market. First of all, a big thank you to everyone who took the time to interact—it’s inspiring to see so much enthusiasm in this space. However, I’ve noticed something curious. A large number of responses simply say, “I’m interested,” without actually addressing the specifics of the role or opportunity mentioned in the post. This makes me wonder: Are we all taking the time to fully understand the details before jumping in? The share market is a dynamic, fast-paced environment, requiring not just passion but also a clear understanding of the strategies, risks, and teamwork involved. Building a strong, knowledgeable team is crucial, but finding the right people amidst this overwhelming interest has been more challenging than I expected. So here’s my request to all the aspirants out there: 💡 Take a moment to read, reflect, and ask yourself if this opportunity truly aligns with your goals and expertise. 📖 When you apply, share your relevant experience, your understanding of market strategies, and why you think you’re the right fit for the team. The share market is not just about jumping in—it’s about thoughtful decisions, informed strategies, and collaboration. I’m committed to building a team of skilled, motivated individuals who truly want to grow and succeed in this space. Let’s make this process meaningful for everyone involved! 🚀 #sharemarket #intraday #stockoption #butterfly #ratio #straddle #nse #bse #propdesk #arbitrage #optiontrader #shareindia #marwadi #smart #sunrisesgilt

Remember that sweet spot when you're looking for your next role, and one comes up that makes your heart sing, your blood pump faster, and you think 'yes yes yes and as quickly as possible'? Contrast that with a potential role that matches your skills set, but where you don't get that innate excitement... I call it a gut instinct, and also something worth interrogating on a logical level, to help you decide if you're going to progress and put your energies into that recruitment process or role or not. And to double check that it's not just your conscious or unconscious biases coming into play and misleading you! I'm a huge believer in Ikigai, where passion, mission, profession and vocation meet to create that sweet spot, but would love to see a model where organisational culture is also factored. Does anyone know of any good ones? #recruitment #ikigai #values #organisationalculture

What could you do with the extra 29 years of your life? In 1960s, the average life expectancy was just 54 years. Fast forward to 2023, and that number has increased to 83 (for Singapore and many Asian countries). Traditionally, we live our lives in 3 phases - study, build a career/family, retire. Similarly our careers tend to be linear as well. But now, we are now living longer. And we are also seeing more changes in the economic and employment model. This is fueled by the convergence of different technology - 5G, IOT, AR, VR, AI/Gen AI ie. Industrial Revolution 4.0. What this means is we will face more inflection points in our lives. So a traditional 3 stage life is evolving to a multi-stage life. We will now need to embrace a mindset of permanent reinvention - shifting from a single career path to a multi-stage or even a portfolio of careers. So what else needs to change? 🌈 Shift from climbing a corporate ladder to building a career lattice that will give you skills that help you stay market relevant 🌈 Build multiple streams of income - this come from diverse skills or network you have that you can collaborate with 🌈 Start investing in yourself, while you are still growing so you build a new trajectory before a clift-drop In the past few weeks, I had clients reaching out to share their anxiety about their job security and not knowing what to do next (and how to build their next trajectory). And they are those who are disrupted, feeling lost about what's next. Some of these are senior executives - Managing Directors of MNCs. At 50s, they still have a runway of 25 years and a great opportunity to build a new chapter. There has never been a better time than now to start thinking about what's next if you haven't done so. What would you do differently if you have the extra 29 years? Would love to hear from you. This is true: I'd have expected to be on the cusp of death by now, when I was a child. Yet, a few weeks ago, I was turned away from the old-people's gate at an airport because the rules changed and I'm too young. Wait until next year, I said, but the chap who had to police the entrance didn't believe me. The #longevity of large numbers of the population is problematic. Old people are expensive for healthcare and pensions; old people are slow to change (that's often a good thing but commercial interests don't like it), old people really don't, these days, want to sit around drinking cups of tea and waiting to die or corralled into bingo halls or community centres. But most of all, many old people are far, far from useless and want to keep working, want responsibility and want to improve the world using the skills and experience that others simply don't have but are keen to decry. We - and there are a lot of us - are denied access to work because of formal and informal polices that are utterly discriminatory. But governments don't care and do nothing about it. True, I'd be a bad bet to work in a foundry but in an office? Nah. Just an embarrassment to those who know less but use more #buzzwords. So what will I do with the extra years? I'm already doing it: I continue to deliver #consultancy and #training that is years ahead of its time because I have the #knowledge and #experience of two full careers to enable me to extrapolate what I see today into the risks of #tomorrow and to protect against them; I write books that I could not write if I didn't have 30 years' experience in the hope that young people in #financialservices, #lawenforcement, the #judiciary and in #policymaking can do their jobs building on the shoulders of a giant instead of putting new foundations on the sands of fashion not bedrock. I #cook: I have a #privatedining kitchen with #sunsets (bring your own drinks), I cook for #cocktailparties - up to 75 people (up to 12 #canapés - two rounds - provide your own waiting staff). I cook for dinner parties at the venue (ditto staff: I'll even train them in silver service) (recently 9 courses for 10 people in a plantation 120km from home: just two sputtering gas rings; a tiny prep area; no plating up counter; none of my kitchen tech). Maybe, in a year or two I'll go through with my vague plan to walk away from the #fincrime stuff and build a mobile kitchen (not a food truck) to take a restaurant on the road. Why? Because it looks like fun and I come from a long line of people who feed people. And I miss touring. There was a time when I was away from home 200 nights a year, sleeping in airports, on planes and trains. Even today, if you want me in your office in central London at 9 am tomorrow, I'll leave my flat in Kuala Lumpur at 8pm tonight and I'll be there. I'm Nigel Morris-Cotterill. I make complicated stuff easy, I make half-decent food and I refuse to let age slow me down. Adeline Tiah 謝善嫻 #financialcrimeriskandcompliance

“TUESDAY REFLECTION: SHIFT YOUR PERSPECTIVE, TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE” As we journey through this week, take a quiet moment to reflect. The challenges we face often feel overwhelming—but is it the situation itself, or how we choose to view it? Sometimes, the most profound changes happen when we adjust our lens, allowing us to see beyond the struggle and into the possibility of growth. "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." – Marcel Proust. At Sidimo HR Consultancy, we don’t just offer solutions—we help people and organizations see with new eyes. We believe that real transformation begins with the heart and the mind, creating a ripple effect that changes everything in its path. It’s not about the obstacles—it’s about the opportunity to rise above them, to embrace the potential within ourselves. This week, challenge yourself to see differently, to feel deeply, and to unlock the power that’s already inside you. How you choose to view today will shape the future you create tomorrow. For more information, visit our website: www.sidimo.com.my or contact us at: [email protected] or +60132101819. #sidimo #sidimoHR
