Cannabis beverages should be readily available wherever alcohol is sold—that's what Monica Roerig Olano, MBA argues in her latest Dry Atlas piece. As more states legalize cannabis, the lines between alcohol and cannabis use are blurring. Yet, accessibility remains a key roadblock for the cannabis beverage category. At Spirited Away, we're excited to expand that access by Showcasing cannabis brands like Artet, Louie Louie, MAGIC CACTUS and WYNK™. Do you agree that cannabis beverages deserve to sit alongside alcohol? Or do you see potential risks for consumers and businesses alike?

It would be wonderful if bars sold cannabis drinks. Unfortunately in California, our voters  said, “absolutely not,” when they enacted Prop 64. If you’re talking about hemp based THC - I don't think the converted stuff should be sold anywhere.

I'm with Monica on a lot of their points. I'm all about equal space. The problem I am seeing coming up is trying to shoe horn hemp beverages in the alcohol industry's 3-tier system. In Kentucky we have a registry for hemp products, retail, producing, and cultivation. However, many plans want to force registered hemp businesses to also register for a beer/wine license in order to sell hemp beverages. If anything that should be flipped. We fought to get intoxicating hemp products out of unlicensed retailers and age-gated away from kids. These same rules would have them right back on the shelves in convenience stores.

As long as it’s regulated properly, there’s no reason they shouldn’t share the space

One million billion percent agree! This should be a no doikes conversation but people that don't want their market share being disrupted are greasing palms and stomping feet to hinder progress... In my humble, but super accurate opinion :o)

Douglas Watters 100% agree. For those which are not clear , naturally derived Delta 9 hemp THC is not the synthetic converted THC that raises all the red flags and mis-information. Emergent Beverages The Brand Accelerator
