💫 Star Candidate of the Week 💫 I caught up this week with a candidate who is looking to move from permanent to a freelance role, and who can be available after a 1 month notice period. He is based in Austria, and has held senior Clinical Project Manager roles in biotechs and CROs. For his next role, he is ideally looking for a Global or Regional remit, preferably with people management responsibilities. He holds vast experience in oncology, dermatology and inflammatory disease indications. One of his key achievements was managing the first ever Phase 1 trial for a small biotech, which achieved great results. He also speaks 4 languages fluently, English, French, German and Arabic, as well as basic Spanish. Does this sound like someone you would be looking for? Send me a DM to learn more! #StarCandidate #hiring #recruitment

24Q1 update: Since June 2023, I've been a full-time #freelance consultant, drawing on my experience in #communications, #marketing, and #journalism to add value to the businesses that have become my clients. Over the last 10 months, I've been asked to develop strategies, devise solutions, create content, and manage projects for both fast-growing and well-established enterprises. Two of these projects have been for Virtumed South Africa, a supplier of medical devices used in interventional surgery. Thanks to CEO Simon Swanich, who gave me an opportunity to gain experience in a new (to me) industry – and letting me contribute remotely, from my office in Ireland. In the first, I developed a communications training programme for the Virtumed business development team. The intention was to impart skills that would help them have more meaningful conversations with the hospitals and doctors they regularly approach. We'll also have a follow-up session to share learnings from successes, as well as identify opportunities. The second project is a far bigger undertaking: the inaugural Japan-Africa Cardiology Symposium, taking place this weekend (5-7 April). I worked on strategy, planning, and implementation for this medical conference (along with some web development, content creation, stakeholder management, and event coordination). The event will host some of Africa's top cardiologists and medical faculty, along with esteemed Japanese cardiologist RYUZO HAYASHI, for three days of learning, collaboration, and live cases. (Live cases – as I've learned – are surgeries with a medical audience, featuring live "commentary" from the cardiologists in the operating theatre.) All of this is taking place at Netcare Alberton Hospital, a state-of-the-art venue that has the highly specialised medical facilities and technology infrastructure to make the symposium a reality. Here's to another quarter of finding success, learning new things, and adding value.

🌟 Balancing Quality and Speed in Medical Writing 🌟 Hello LinkedIn Community, One of the most frequent challenges in medical writing is finding the right balance between quality and speed. Here’s my take on this important aspect: 🔹 Quality Over Speed: In the world of medical writing, accuracy and clarity are paramount. Rushing through an article can compromise the quality and reliability of the information. It’s essential to take the necessary time to research, write, and edit thoroughly. 🔹 Efficient Processes: While quality should never be sacrificed, developing efficient writing and editing processes can help maintain a balance. Creating outlines, setting realistic deadlines, and using effective research methods are key strategies. 🔹 Experience Matters: Over time, experience allows for a quicker turnaround without compromising quality. Familiarity with medical topics and a robust writing process enhance both speed and precision. In my own practice, I prioritize delivering well-researched, clear, and engaging content. Key Takeaway? 🔑 Strive for Excellence: Aim for high-quality content while continuously improving your efficiency. Quality should always be the top priority, but with experience and effective processes, speed can follow. What’s your approach to balancing quality and speed? Share your thoughts and experiences! -------------------------------------------------- Hello! I'm Dr. Shamsa Kanwal, MD Dermatology. I am a freelance medical writer and reviewer specializing in creating medical and dermatology related content for both patients and healthcare professionals. #MedicalWriting #QualityOverSpeed #ContentCreation #Efficiency #HealthcareWriting

Knowing prefixes (and sufixes) is very helpful for #MedicalTranslators and #MedicalWriters. I remember following a very interesting MOOC organised by l'université de Lorraine on #Scientific and #medical root words. I highly recommend it to anybody understanding/working with #French (note: most scientific root words are ancient Greek or Latin words). Link in comments. #CPD #QualifiedTranslator #MedComms

Medical Terminology tip: Understanding color prefixes can help translators specializing in medicine and life sciences figure out medical jargon more easily. These roots primarily derive from Greek language. Let's have a closer look: 🔵 Cyano = Blue 🔴 Erythro = Red ⚪ Leuko = White ⚫ Melano = Black Whether you are translating in #oncology, #cardiology, #hematology any other medical specialty, learning medical prefixes and suffixes can help you master medical terminology more efficiently.
