What up everybody? My name is Maestro Stevens. What iconic templates? And in this video we're going to do a deep side by side comparison with short cart and WooCommerce. Actually, this is a second video that I've done of short cart versus WooCommerce. So technically this is Short Cart versus Woo Part 2. Now let's jump in it. Alright, so let's just start off with where you can find both of these tools. Right now I am on wordpress.org and I'm in the plugin directory. All I did was go to wordpress.org, go to plugins, click that. I searched for short cart and I ended up here. I searched for WooCommerce and I ended up here. So if you want to see more information about the features of both tools, you can see them, right? Here now, if you want to dive a little deeper into some of the nuances of both tools, you can just go to their dedicated websites. For short card, they have shortcart.com and Full Commerce, you have woocommerce.com. You can also see the features and that is the page that I'm on right now. And these are a lot of the features that we're going to be talking about in the side by side comparison that we're going to be doing here today. So for short card, you can just go to thispageshortcart.com/features and you'll be able to. See all the features right here and then you can also see them on the pricing page as well too. Then for WooCommerce, you go to woocommerce.com/IT or it or it kind of templates. Now I'm just joking forward slash features. So it's will commerce.com/IT/features and there you will end up here on this new Converse features page. And the reason why I'm saying this one is because the one that they have from the home page, it doesn't really have that much. So I googled and I found this. One and I'm like OK, this is what I this is what I was looking for This has way more features and it has it like short card does where it has it in these nice different sections based on certain topics or categories right and so I like that so I'm going to keep scrolling so you can kind of see all the features are pretty much here. Most of the features are pretty much here, if not all of them. Now I'm going to go back up and I'm going to stop at a certain area that we're going to go back to here in a second now. You want to find the plugins directly in the WordPress admin area and you are new to WordPress. You just go to plugins, add new, and then you will be able to search for the plugin as I have done here, short cart here on the left side, and then we'll commerce here on the right side. For short car. You do have to type in the whole name because it's not going to show up if you just type in. Sure. Just giving you a surefire tip on that. And with WooCommerce, you can just type in Woo. So you don't have to worry about typing in the commerce and it'll pop up right here. That's something that I just wanted you to be aware of because I know I ran into that and I'm sure other people may have run into that too. They just wanted to abbreviate it because you know, these days we live in the abbreviation era. Everything's got to be short or be abbreviated. So just keep that in mind when it comes to just looking at both of these tools and how you search for them and how you add them to your WordPress website. Now, as you can see, I've already. Activated both of these tools on each of these WordPress websites. And I did that because I wanted to get past some of the onboarding experience and be able to create a product. So that way I can show you all customer information and order information and product information that I have done by ordering a product, by buying a product, by creating a customer and buying a product. Now I can show you what that looks like a little bit better versus if I hadn't done that, it was just going to be empty and I just didn't think that was going to help now. Let's go back over here to the features page and the reason why I paused here on both of these sections because I just want to make a quick point. I know this may be something that some of you all will have a different opinion on, maybe have an opposite opinion of what I have. However, this is something that I wanted to share with you because this is my thought process. So when it comes to the unique value proposition of each tool, it's different. They are both different on the unique. Any proposition, although the main parts of short cart, the main parts of WooCommerce are very similar and the overall purpose of both tools is the same. And what that means is they're both made for ecommerce. If you're not doing ecommerce, you really don't need these tools for the most part. I would say 99% of people probably don't need these tools if they're not doing ecommerce. So that's the key is if you're doing ecommerce and you want to do it in a very robust. Way both of these tools give you the ability to do that. So let's just clear the air right there is that these are ecommerce tool. Now all ecommerce tools aren't made the same and short cart WooCommerce are definitely in that scenario where they are not made the same. So for sure car this is a headless plugin or a headless tool. That's a better way to say it. And we'll commerce is a self hosted plugin. I've made another video. That goes a little deeper on the differences between the two when it comes to self hosted versus headless. So you can watch that video and I will put it in the description below. However, for the most part, I just wanted you to know that short card is headless, Commerce is self hosted. Short cart has a plug in and software as a service platform where you log in like you would log into any other platform with your login and you'll be able to see your information that has nothing to do with you. Being inside of WordPress, but that information is connected to everything you do inside of WordPress via your short cart plugin. Woo Commerce is not like that. We'll commerce is a plugin and all the information and everything that you're doing is happening on your WordPress website. If you delete your WordPress website without any backups, you delete your WooCommerce data. If you delete your WordPress website without any backups with short card, you can still have your data on the actual server, the shortcut server. There's pros and cons to both, but I just wanna let you all know that now when it comes to another unique value proposition that I really did notice especially in this section here and just in my own use cases for both because I use them both for different reasons. So for short chart, we see that it says the ultimate developer friendly toolbox and for commerce, it says made for developers. That is key for you to be able to see because I think that verbiage is highly. Attributed to their direction and some of their value proposition. What do I mean by that? With Short Cart they are saying that they are developer friendly and one of the biggest parts about Shortcut when it first came out was this is going to be very user friendly. We are focused on user friendly activities that give you the ability to get right in the short car and start selling things without having to have a whole bunch of other plugins added to it. Whereas when it comes to WooCommerce. It saying made for developers. In my opinion I think that WooCommerce is more of a one for all type of plugin. And sure car is a all for one type of plug in, one for all, all for one. Ohh. And what I mean by that is All for One being we have one ecommerce plugin. If you had one ecommerce plugin for WordPress, we wanted to create a plugin that whole bunch of other developers, many other developers can easily integrate into. So they don't have to make another ecommerce plug in, but they can create extensions, add-ons. Other compatible integrations with their tools, so A1 for all type of tool. And when developers think about integrating ecommerce into their platform with their tool, with their startup in any way when they're not directly competing with a WooCommerce, they're most likely going to integrate with WooCommerce. So you have to think about that. The first thing that most companies with WordPress that are dealing with products, selling things, they're going to integrate with WooCommerce more than anything. Nine times out of 10 at the time of this video, maybe eight times, but they're gonna integrate with commerce, whereas short cart is newer and it is not as popular when it comes to development use cases and integrations. However, Short card is saying right here, they still have that capability. So that's something that I really want you to notice and know if you're thinking about why you need to use the two or which ones you need to use based on your use case and scenarios. We're going to go over many different reasons, but starting here, where are you when it comes to how much do you need from a development standpoint? Where are you when it comes to how you're thinking of? I want something that's more consolidated or I want something that is more integrated. Not saying that short cart doesn't integrate or have integrations, but will Commerce has many, many more because developers think about this when they're thinking about their ecommerce aspirations. Now let's talk a little bit about the onboarding experience.
