Is it essential to install a grounding electrode in the building even when the resistance between the main earth busbar and the incoming PEN is below 2 ohms?(TNC system) When a neutral break occurs, there is a possibility of unbalanced voltages between the phases, leading to overvoltage conditions in the system. This can result in damage to equipment, electrical fires, and a serious safety hazard to occupants of the building. A grounding electrode provides a path to safely dissipate fault currents and stabilize the system in the event of a neutral break. It helps prevent overvoltage conditions(Neutral remain inside circle as shown in the picture) , reduces the risk of electric shock, and protects the electrical system from damage. Having a grounding electrode in place ensures that the electrical system remains safe and properly grounded, even in the event of a neutral break. It is an essential component of a reliable and resilient electrical system. #TNC #grounding #Electrode #neutral #PEN #Earthing #distribution

🚨NEW CASE STUDY ALERT🚨 Did you know that the Northumberland #TfL depot is responsible for cleaning around 47 different tube trains every day?🤔 As it was built in 1995, the existing wash bay at the depot was in need for a significant refurbishment. Lighting fixtures, panels and sensors in the bay are exposed constantly to moisture and harsh cleaning chemicals, so it was essential that a suitable cable protection system was specified🛡️ To satisfy these requirements, TfL engineers specified a flexible conduit system that incorporated Atkore Flexicon Connectabox™, a weatherproof, IP68/IP69, non-metallic, circular connection box, which simplified cable management and saved time in the interconnection of circuits and wiring assemblies. Read the full case study below 📝 https://ow.ly/MgK050RAmm7 #Atkore #BuildingBetterTogether #TFL #RailwayEngineering #CableProtection #RailInfrastructure Rail Forum

https://lnkd.in/dxN6K_jg Expert Corner To test the effectiveness of the pit, check that the voltage difference between the pit and the neutral of the mains supply is less than 2 volts. The resistance of the pit should be maintained at under 1 ohm, up to a distance of 15m from the conductor. #sustainability #alternativeenergy

Upgrading the electrical panel with fuses on a panel with circuit breakers. One of the apartments at 2nd Avenue, Manhattan. About a year ago Circuit breakers offer several advantages over fuses, making them generally a better choice for electrical safety: Reusability: Circuit breakers can be easily reset after they trip, unlike fuses which need to be replaced once they blow. Safety: They are designed with a ‘dead front’ construction, meaning they have no exposed live parts, reducing the risk of electrical accidents. Consistent Performance: Circuit breakers do not require replacement after a trip, ensuring performance over time. Extended Protection: They protect against both power overloads and short circuits, offering comprehensive protection for your electrical system. Easier Troubleshooting: Circuit breakers make it easier to identify and troubleshoot faults in the electrical system. #upgradepanel #replacementpanel

Navigating the Cable Maze with Iron Box: Top Tips for Selecting Bulk Cable In electrical infrastructure, selecting the proper bulk cable is crucial. With numerous options, it can be daunting. Here are our top tips for choosing the perfect cable. SOOW vs. SJOOW 🔌 Understand the difference between SOOW and SJOOW cables. SOOW cables are heavy-duty, resistant to moisture, chemicals, oils, and abrasion, ideal for harsh environments. SJOOW cables are for lighter-duty applications, suitable for indoor and outdoor use where flexibility and oil/solvent resistance are required but not to the extent of SOOW cables. 3 Wire vs. 4 Wire ❓ Consider whether you need a 3-wire or 4-wire cable. 3-wire cables have hot, neutral, and ground conductors for single-phase systems. 4-wire cables include an additional ground conductor for three-phase systems. Voltage Rating ⚡ Ensure the cable's voltage rating matches your application's requirements for safe and reliable operation. Temperature Rating ♨ Choose cables engineered to withstand the temperature range in your environment. Flexibility and Oil Resistance 🛢 For industrial settings, opt for flexible and oil-resistant cables to ensure long-lasting performance. At Iron Box, we offer high-quality cables designed to meet diverse needs. Trust us for the perfect solution, from SOOW to SJOOW, low voltage to high voltage, and everything in between.
