Last year, I attended a 10-day silent meditation retreat. 🧘🏼♀️ After nearly 100 hours of meditating, I walked away with 5 nuggets of wisdom that have changed the way I think and show up ever since. 🙌🏼 ❶ Stop making assumptions; ask questions instead. Often, we assume how others may be feeling about us or certain situations. In reality, we are usually incorrect in our assumptions and merely projecting what we might be feeling about ourselves. ❷ Treat others how you would like to be treated. Okay, so most of you probably know the saying, but if you think really hard about it, do you actually uphold it in all areas of your life? If not, become aware of this and take action to correct it. ❸ Challenge yourself to find peace in all situations. This one is hard. Believe me, I know. That’s why I say “challenge.” In very difficult experiences, this can look like lessons learned, newfound empathy for others who have gone through similar things, and so on. Choosing to find peace is a game changer. ❹ You cannot control everything that happens to you, but you can control how you perceive it. There is so much that is outside of our control, so instead of giving all our attention to the outside, direct your attention inward. You can decide to perceive a situation as a learning experience or a step closer to success rather than a rejection or failure. ❺ Everything is always changing. Learning to be detached from too many outcomes or expectations will truly set you free. No matter what you do in life, change is a constant. Once you let go and embrace change rather than resist it, you’ll find much more ease and balance in your life. It's natural to feel self-doubt and uncertainty, but remember that mistakes are part of the journey. I’m not a guru. Or a monk or a coach. Few have all the answers and the more I know, the more I realize how much I don't know. I do, however, believe in the power of wisdom. It has the potential to transform our mindset, our wellbeing and our lives. Finding balance in the Meditation Sun Room: An infusion between balance and patience. The title of my week 😊 As I begin to take on more professional and personal responsibilities in my life: I have been prioritizing the modes of both Patience and Balance. As we get busier and manifest more opportunities to improve and provide value to others we likely start to feel like it’s all too much to handle and we can’t get it all done or make it all work.. These perceptions can give us a lot of anxiety, but through that they can also be reverse engineered to strengthen our resolve and build resilience to determine more. 🙌 A few of the activities I love to do during the week to help me cultivate this state and accomplish the goals I want to meet without getting discouraged or overwhelmed are: ✅ Prayer (through spiritual affirmation) ✅ Mindful journaling using my own personal prompts and record them on my phone 📱 ✅ Walking through flora (parks, gardens, natural destinations) 😊 These can really help us to avoid burnout as busy professionals and meet our long-term goals. Long-term goals often require sustained effort and time. 👉Reminder: Patience and balance help maintain focus and perseverance yet in a relaxed way. Be sure to locate environments that can help you not only complete these missions and determinations that you set, but also offer you a feeling of purpose when you go to settle into them. 🎯Have faith in yourself. For faith seeks reason and reason deepens faith in our abilities and and our abundance! 🎯Permit yourself to balance patience and steadiness. Circumstances that we want to happen may take longer than ones we didn’t expect and they will feel heavy at times. Allowing your desired results to flower is not a bad thing. It’s reasonable to feel like your met with the impossible, but when you let go of what “needs to happen” and detach from that desire and embrace the unknown: your faith in knowing that something better is at work and it will be there waiting at it’s appointed hour. ✨Keep trusting your intuition with gratitude.
