India produces about 28 million tonnes of steel by the EAF route. In addition there are refining furnaces like AOD, LRF of about an equal capacity. The waste heat from these can be utilised, converted into electricity, by using thermal storage. Either as Steam Accumulators or Heat Batteries from where a steady flow of steam can be fed to the turbines. Taking the total furnaces capacity as 56 million tonnes, this waste heat can generate 560 GW, without using any other fuel. In fact this will save the electricity spent on pumping water for cooling the effluent gases from the furnaces.
