It was thrilling to be part of the London Climate Action Week as a proud The Earthshot Prize Portfolio member! Feeling inspired and yet again curious as I travel to London for Reset Connect at Climate Action Week. This time, for me, it is not so much understanding the problems, it is seeking the solutions, and where our research can play a role. There is quite incredible commitment and will from so many to tackle this crisis, but we are still far off what we need to do to address the implications for our planet. But this week is another stepping stone in taking us there. Looking forward to joining with others to move forwards together #lcaw #climatechange #climatefutures #esg

🌍 This week, climate leaders, activists, and policymakers from across the globe are gathering in New York City to accelerate climate action, drive the transition, and champion progress already underway. 🌱 Events like these serve as a powerful reminder that addressing the complexities of climate change is not something any one person, organization, or industry can do alone. It takes collaboration, innovation, and shared vision to create lasting impact. We are excited to see the powerful outcomes that inevitably emerge when diverse voices unite for a common cause. Together, we can drive the systemic change our planet - and specifically the maritime sector - so urgently needs. #ClimateAction #Sustainability #ClimateLeadership #NetZero #ClimateWeekNYC Climate Group

And that's a wrap on New York Climate Week, but it is not really, is it?! Climate Week, COP and the like are merely intervention points in the complex journey to a planet positive future. What Climate Week has reinforced is the need for urgent action (again!) but this needs to be enabled by a consistent and implementable action plan through all intervention points and beyond. Standardized terminology and understanding, consistency in regulation, absolute transparency, social equity, cooperation, new technologies and most importantly, visibility and commitment to how the transition is going to be financed are the essential building blocks. 'Money and Momentum' is my main takeaway theme from a week of meetings, workshops, networking, and more rides on the NY subway than the subway surfer. The Global Week of Action is a period during which individuals and organizations celebrate through various mediums to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and address the challenges facing our planet and its inhabitants. This year's theme focuses on "Climate Finance and a Fossil-Free Future" , which particularly addresses SDG 13. SDG 13 is integral to achieving a sustainable and fossil-free future, as it calls for immediate action and substantial financial investments to mitigate climate change. By participating in this week, we aim to raise awareness and mobilize collective efforts toward sustainable practices that can lead to meaningful change. Together, we can advocate for the necessary commitments required to combat climate change effectively. Join us in this conversation. #globalweekofaction

A few weeks on from #UNGA79 and New York Climate Week, there is definite reason to feel optimistic. From innovative partnerships to important funding commitments, it is clear that these convenings provide momentum towards the Sustainable Development Goals as well as the Paris Climate Agreements. This year's discussions highlighted the vital importance of building ecosystems that foster collaboration across sectors. Asserting the importance not to work in silos, but rather recognise that impactful change comes from the synergy of diverse voices and expertise. As we work closely with governments, civil society and importantly those on the frontline of the challenges we face, its ever more clear that every stakeholder has a role to play in creating a more sustainable future. As always, optimism must not lead to complacency. We must harness this momentum and ensure our commitments translate into action for meaningful change.

I’ve had countless conversations with businesses over the past three years, and they often feel overwhelmed at the possibility of tackling emissions reductions alone. That’s why we created The Climate Pledge – to bring together the world's top companies who can help each other get further, faster by accelerating joint action, cross-sector collaboration, and responsible change. As we count down to New York Climate Week and The Climate Pledge’s 5 Year Anniversary 🎉 , it brings me joy to see our community expand to include 500+ companies across 45 countries and 59 industries. The more companies that commit to net-zero by 2040, the greater the impact we'll have on our planet's future. We are hoping that your company can join us - Become a signatory and join forces with the world's top companies. [Link to sign up](https://lnkd.in/dN8iaSgR)

The United States is embarking on a critical journey to achieve net zero emissions within its industrial sector, a pivotal endeavor in the fight against climate change and the pursuit of sustainable development. From state-level Buy Clean initiatives to incentivizing clean technology adoption, the US is setting a precedent for global climate action. And while the progress we're witnessing is inspiring, there's still much work to be done. We’re continuing the journey towards an industrial net zero transition at the US Climate Action Summit later this month. Through strategic partnerships, forward-thinking policies, and responsible innovation, we can Make it Real. I'm actually a Climate Week NYC virgin! Having held the belief for many years that these types of events are simply preaching to the choir, and less about driving change. I want to be proven wrong! As I prepare to join my co-panellists on Wednesday to speak about Putting Climate Solutions on the agenda, I realise there is much to discuss, learn and change even within the climate community. - The World needs climate innovations and solutions, and thankfully they exist! But they need to scale at speed to reach net zero, however, so much in the climate space evolves around the big incumbent companies reducing their negative climate impact (needed but not enough!). - How can we come together to accelerate the adoption of climate solutions across industries and the World? - How can climate target setting evolve to include and even promote innovative climate solutions with high-growth replacing the status quo? Much needed for a net-zero World, but out of scope in frameworks today. - Is GHG reporting enough to drive impactful action when it only focuses on the impact within a company's scope 1-3 inventory? What about a companies efforts to change the system? Bringing innovative upgrades to peoples lives, where switching results in avoided emissions? Advocating for regulation that is future proof rather than the regulations we have now: outdated and built for another era? As a challenger company, disrupting the status quo (cow's milk) with delicious, nutritious, climate solutions (Oalty!), I look forward to meeting other challengers, innovators and like-minded companies during this week, to further the opportunities we have in scaling towards a net-zero World.
