Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan has signed a bipartisan bill to enhance the role of Renaissance Zones in stimulating economic growth. The legislation simplifies these zones, designed to incentivize investment and job creation in historically overlooked areas. By reducing bureaucratic hurdles and consolidating categories into a more flexible framework, Michigan aims to attract a broader spectrum of businesses, fostering innovation and development. This change is part of Whitmer's broader economic strategy, which includes new tools like R&D tax credits and incentives for startups, to maintain Michigan's competitive edge in advanced manufacturing and other industries. With over $3 billion in private investment and the creation of more than 10,000 jobs, the state has already seen substantial benefits from Renaissance Zones, figures that are expected to rise with the new legislation. This initiative aligns with efforts to ensure all communities can thrive economically, promoting equitable development across Michigan. By simplifying the process for businesses to invest and create jobs in historically overlooked areas, Michigan is taking a significant step towards fostering innovation and development, and promoting equitable growth.

Michigan's economy is one of the worst in the nation and our administration, under Governor Whitmer's leadership, has given out $4.6 billion in corporate handouts in this term alone (playing favorites!). "And what are Michigan citizens getting for this money? Very little. Here are some of the biggest deals the current legislature has approved and the number of jobs these deals are projected to produce." https://lnkd.in/gWbYU2nn

👏 $623.3 Million 🎉 That's the impact the Nebraska business owners and entrepreneurs who worked with NBDC had on the Nebraska economy last year. Nebraskans who work with us receive our services at no cost. Instead, we ask them to report certain numbers to us that we then aggregate into anonymous figures - things like how many jobs they created or how many government contracts they earned because of the help of our consultants. We then take these numbers and do an analysis with the help of University of Nebraska at Omaha College of Business Administration's Dr. Christopher Decker. Learn more about our impact in our newly-released annual report: https://lnkd.in/gQhkH6uA

PLEASE READ ‼️ One of the most extraordinary aspects of what I do is being part of mission-driven work. However, what's even more remarkable is receiving letters that share great news. In the 37-year history of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, President Biden has become the first sitting President to welcome TMCF scholars to the Washington, DC! Check out the attached letter!
