I've come to realize that the "call-me-when-you-need-me" approach is a disservice to both your patients and yourself. This mindset often stems from chiropractors who want to be well-liked and hope it will generate referrals. However, it typically doesn't work, or if it does, you’ll need a lot of referrals, especially if your average new patient only comes for 1.5 visits. People generally don't get out of pain that quickly unless they’re maintenance-type patients. A better approach is to schedule six sessions, or two weeks of care, and then perform a functional outcome re-evaluation to determine if more care is needed, if the patient can be dismissed, or if a referral is necessary.
