POV: Shortlisting businesses for a Kent Awards - is an honour! This last week or so I have been shortlisting businesses for the Kent Business Awards… Wow, there are some seriously impressive businesses going for the Small Business Award for Tunbridge Wells, and Maidstone. If you are completing an application - I’ve got some tips for you from what I’ve seen. 1. Put in the effort - one word answers won’t cut it. 2. If you use AI to write your answers - back it up with a real example from your own business. 3. Read your answer and check it answers the question. 4. Be sure to go into the detail, not long winded answers but details, e.g. if you are talking about your financials use figures. If you are mentioning customer service use your review ratings etc. Goals should always be SMART. 5. Double check you have answered all of the questions. 6. Break up your text, don’t use walls of words, make it easy to read for the judges. 7. Include evidence and additional files. 8. Check your grammar and spelling! 9. If you quote something in the application then make sure this is true for what can be found online. 10. Get your figures right throughout the entire document.
