In 2024, the Latina pay gap widened for the first time in 20 years. Net net, Latinas stand to lose $1.2 million over a 40 year career, according to National Women's Law Center. That's impacting Latinas across the board and in most disparate ways our caregivers, mothers, farmworkers, folks in hospitality. In my latest for Forbes, I spoke with Latinas leading the helm on the wage gap movement: https://lnkd.in/g5i8TgUB Monica Ramirez, author, activist and founder of Justice for Migrant Women (thank you to Argelia Martinez for connecting us) Joelle Martinez, CEO of the Latino Leadership Institute and data expert Daniela Carvajalino, Founder and CEO, The Biz Nation, lifetime entrepreneurs along with her sisters Staci LaToison, CEO, Dream Big Ventures LLC, a corporate employee turned entrepreneur and podcast host of #HerMoneyMoves (do I sense a collaboration here?) No cabe duda, against all odds, Latinas are moving mountains in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, generating companies with hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in ARR. But to Ramirez's point, systemic change is what's needed: “Congress has to be brave enough to change it,” Ramirez said. “Companies are going to have to be accountable according to the law. Workers are going to have to know their rights so they can then be afforded the protections under the law. Society is going to have to change when it comes to placing a value on who we are as Latinas and all the ways that we contribute.”
I agree, this is wrong however, we know who is responsible. I believe with proper representation, the new administration will listen and act.
BEST way to do it!

8hHonored to be featured alongside powerhouse Latinas like Monica Ramirez, Joelle Martinez, and Staci LaToison in in this important conversation about the Latina pay gap. Thank you, Lyanne Alfaro for shining a spotlight on an issue that impacts not just individuals, but entire families and communities. The fact that the Latina pay gap widened in 2024 is a call to action for all of us. As entrepreneurs at Biz Nation, my sisters and I have witnessed the incredible resilience and innovation of Latinas in business, but systemic inequities continue to hold too many back. As Monica said so powerfully: systemic change requires brave legislation, corporate accountability, and a cultural shift that values Latinas and our contributions. Let’s keep raising our voices, supporting one another, and fighting for the equity we deserve.
