Looking further into the bill itself, the bill consists of about 500 pages. and within it, there is an introduction to Gold Police; it's a new police force with extraordinary powers and unrestricted access to firearms, thereby it will undermine the Police Act and the Firearms Act. What do you think about this Bill? #Police #Firearm

Lawyer, Leader, & Public Safety Executive; SVP of Forensic Services at SoundThinking, Inc.; ATF Associate Deputy Director (Ret.)
Police Chief Brian O'Hara gets it, and knows how important ShotSpotter is for providing intelligence that his department depends on to address the serious public safety threat posed by illegal machineguns. "This is a tool. It is just a tool. It's an important one. It's a unique one, but like any other tool, it depends on how you use it," Tom Chittum said. "It's not the hammer that builds the house, it's the carpenter." SoundThinking (formerly ShotSpotter) #police #lawenforcement #policing #crime #machineguns

In addition to the number of Assaults/Attacks against Officers being at a 10 year high, it seems that attacks on Officers with knives are increasing as well. In the last several weeks, there have been numerous Officer attacked with and even stabbed by individuals armed with knives. While knife attacks do not attract the same media coverage as assaults committed against Officers with firearms, knives are just as dangerous and deadly guns and knives can be deadly even if there is originally distance between the Officer and the suspect since it takes mere seconds for the armed assailant to cover the distances of 15-20-30 feet. Anyone who has ever seen what a knife can do to a person in a quick period of time will tell you that. No matter what the mental condition of the subject is or their age, any suspect armed with a knife is dangerous. When possible, Officers should try to gain distance, deescalate the situation, and/or use less than lethal tools upon subject who is armed with a knife. But they must always be ready to utilize lethal force and the second the subject becomes a danger to the Officer, another Officer, or the public lethal force should be used without hesitation. When instances like this happen, there are always a few “dreamers” that have no idea what a critical incident is like or the feeling of confronting a dangerous person with a knife that will say, “It’s only a knife, you should have just ran backwards or hit him with the baton or pepper sprayed him. You didn’t need to shoot him.” When these people show up, it is the duty of the leader of that Law Enforcement Agency to clearly, loudly, and in no uncertain terms declare their 100% percent support of the Officers and the Officers actions and tell they public in public meetings, in the media, and every time the question is raised in any forum that the only person to blame for this incident was the criminal with the knife. Leaders need to train their Officers to be prepared for such deadly encounters and then support their Officers when they experience such critical events. Doing anything else is a leadership failure. #police #policeofficer #policeofficers #officer #officers #lawenforcement #lawenforcementofficer #policechief #policedepartment #sheriff #deputy #cop #cops #copscountpolicematter #policematter #policingmatters #policing #policeman #publicsafety #communitysafety #protectandserve #criminaljustice #leadership #law International Association of Chiefs of Police Police Executive Research Forum FBI National Academy Associates, Inc. The pressure on Police resources is well known, what is less well appreciated is the way Doyle Security can assist clients by conducting random patrols on their premises. Just like our Static Guards, our Mobile Officers undergo thorough training and vetting to meet BS 7858 standards and hold the necessary SIA badge. #DoyleSecurity #MobilePatrols #EnhancedSecurity #ProfessionalGuards #BS7858 #SIABadge #SecuritySolutions #CrimePrevention #PatrolPower #SecurePremises #SafetyFirst #TrustedSecurity #EfficientPatrols

It was an honor to be invited by the Civil Society Unit of the UNODC to participate in the Constructive Dialogue on Firearms and to be a panelist with such an impactful group of experts and actors from around the globe, which prompted an interesting discussion. I analyzed how the enforcement of criminal offenses in the firearms protocol helps combat organized crime by: 1️⃣ Discussing the impact firearms have had on organized crime and violence. 2️⃣ Briefly describe the available mechanisms and tools to reduce and contain illicit arms trafficking and flows. 3️⃣ Proposing specific tools needed to combat criminal market diversification and reduce the proportionality and lethality generated by the illicit arms market. Thank you, Mariana Mora-Gomez, for the picture 🙌
