Health and Wellbeing for Teen Girls: Exploring Innovative Startups 🚀 This week, we've curated a roundup of innovative startups dedicated to supporting teen girls and improving their health. Digital platforms are playing an essential role in tackling the unique challenges young girls face today, reflecting the changing preferences and perspectives of the new generation. A recent scoping review, "Adolescents' and Young Adults' Perspectives on Digital Health Promotion," was published in BMC Digital Health by Agata Ferretti, Shannon Hubbs, and Effy Vayena. The study, published in 2023, analyzed 50 publications, mostly from high-income countries, with limited data from low- and middle-income regions. It found that young users prefer intuitive and engaging interfaces with features like gamification and personalization. While privacy concerns were noted, particularly around sensitive health topics, data security and information reliability were less of a worry. The review emphasizes the importance of creating user-friendly, personalized, and ethically sound digital health tools to engage young people in managing their health. In our latest Femtech Real Money Talks podcast episode, we spoke with Jas Schembri-Stothart, co-founder of luna, who shared valuable insights on the challenges of addressing teen health needs and how they built a platform that connects with this generation. Tune in to hear about Luna's growth strategies, their fundraising journey, and how they’re making health information more accessible to young girls worldwide.
