There are two very basic things a local service or hospitality business needs to have when it comes to marketing: Google Business Profile Management and email newsletter management. Google profiles are an organic way to bring in tons of new business and leads..ie phone calls or visitors. It's shocking how many businesses don't actively manage their listing whether internally or externally. Equally shocking is how many businesses don't utilize basic email newsletters to stay in front of those who have already become a customer (bonus for those who get prospects on their lists too!). If your profile doesn't rank highly (consistent and proper management will alleviate this) and if you don't bother to stay in touch with your tribe, why should you expect your business to grow as quickly as it could if these basic levels aren't managed? These two services are the bread and butter of my team. Do we offer other areas of expertise (web dev, digital ads, direct mail, design, etc)? Sure do. And I employ experts in their areas so we could never be considered a jack of all master of none. Every position has an expert in the seat. But not every client needs all these services or needs them right away. That's why the last 6-10 months we've started focusing on servicing clients in the service industry with the two basic things they absolutely need: Google Business Profile management and email newsletters. Here is how to consistently drive traffic without the stress of relying on costly and unreliable sources. Eliminate the constant hustle for traffic that never seems to stick around. A concept I came across while reading the book DotCom Secrets. Thanks to Russell Brunson for breaking this down. There are only 3 types of traffic- ~Traffic you own ~Traffic that you control ~Traffic that you don’t control Traffic you own: This is the BEST kind of traffic. Your email list. It's reliable, it's yours, and it gives the best ROI. Any other traffic source is expensive and unreliable compared to this. Traffic that you control: Like Google ads. You don’t own it, but you can direct it where you want. It is a great source of traffic, but it comes with a price tag and demands constant investment. Traffic that you don’t control: Like mentions on social media, blogs, YouTube, guest interviews, etc. They're great for gaining visibility, but you can't control the next sequence of events. Here's the simple plan- Turn those other types of traffic into traffic you own by building your email list. Constantly promote it, offer irresistible lead magnets, engaging newsletters- get creative. Once they're converted into owned traffic, run them through an automation of emails to build the Know, Like, Trust factor before selling. Did you find this helpful? B2B Consultants, does this sound familiar? * It's a struggle to connect with prospects, turn them into leads, and convert them into paying clients. It can feel like trying to chop down a tree with a dull axe (hence, the photo) * You've spent money on digital ads ... marketing books ... email marketing tools ... social media marketing -- all without putting a reliable flow of leads into your pipeline * You've heard that direct mail can grow your business, because it’s real, tangible marketing in a digital world. * But you dread finding a copywriter and a mailing list broker, plus printing and postage costs With me so far? Then you may agree: Too many B2B Consultants are chasing their tails with digital marketing. It leads to low sales, cash-flow worries, feelings of "imposter syndrome," trouble at home ... it's a long list. However. If you're curious about direct mail, but wary of the expense, try this: Let your clients write your sales letters. Here's what I mean ... 1) Analyze your existing testimonials, reviews, and case studies. 2) Look for the Problems people had before engaging you and the Solutions you delivered. The answers are there, in the words of your happy clients. All you have to do is look for them. 3) Insert your clients' words, into a "before and after" letter selling your product or service. Done correctly, about 50-80% of the letter will come from your testimonials, reviews, and case studies. I call this Voice of The Buyer Copywriting. 4) Mail the resulting letter to two audiences that you already have: inactive clients (people who stopped buying) and inactive prospects (people who stopped responding). Of course, you need physical addresses for this. Don't have them? Start collecting them today. It's a sure way to future-proof your business in case you're "cancelled" by Google, Facebook -- you get the idea. Bottom line: The best sales letters aren't written. They are overheard.
