Important Update for Welsh Businesses: New Recycling Law in Effect! Starting April 6th 2024, all businesses, charities, and public sector organisations in Wales are now legally required to sort their waste for recycling. This initiative aims to enhance waste management practices, boost recycling rates, and contribute to a more sustainable future. What Does the Law Require...…. Businesses must segregate their waste into specific categories for efficient recycling. These include: - Food - Paper and Card - Glass - Metal, Plastic, and Cartons - Unsold Textiles -Unsold Small Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (sWEEE) 🚫Banned Practices: - Sending food waste down the drain is prohibited. - Waste that has been sorted for recycling cannot be incinerated or sent to landfill. - All wood waste must be diverted from landfills. Who Does It Apply To? This law applies to a wide range of workplaces, including: Offices and Workshops Retail Establishments Construction Sites Educational Institutions Healthcare Facilities Hospitality and Tourism Venues Factories and Warehouses Transport Hubs And Many More!
