I came across a super interesting comment on one of our Facebook ads seeking franchise partners... "So here the system they have, 1. They will ask you to buy 3 areas around 70k. So fore example surrey, they will ask you this 3 to 4 km radius is one area. So there will be dozens of areas in surrey and one areas is around 30k. So, they are selling u the area which they don't own. 2. Now u have to buy Vans or mini busses and paint driverseat logo on it. 3. Now hire drivers and other staff and u have to pay them around 8k for training in Toronto in which they will show u how their software works. 4. Now u have to do ur own marketing, advertising and find your own customers. Company would not help u to find the client. That's the whole game. Basically, they want to use ur money, your labor and ur work to start their brand And in return, they will give their logo which no one knows in BC." This was written by a franchise prospect we spoke to late in 2023. It highlights some key points for me... ❌ Our franchise development process is inadequate if we are leaving people with this impression of what the opportunity is ❌ This candidate actually doesn't understand franchising in general ✔ Our process did work to remove this candidate from consideration ✔ We really dodged a bullet not partnering with this individual as their mindset is completely in the wrong space The point of this story is... we're not looking for just anybody to be a franchise partner. We're looking for people who: 🔥 want to build something bigger than themselves. 🔥 want our help, training, business model and support to build a big business 🔥 have the right mindset and understanding of what the franchise relationship really looks like 🔥 will put the work in up front to truly understand what they will be accountable for in the relationship I am building the world's biggest passenger transportation franchise. DM me for info on franchise opportunities or if you need our services! #franchise #mindset
I love the fact that you start analysing the feedback you received with a critical mind and the first few points are take-aways for your process to improve. You're right about one thing- this person really didn't understand what franchising is all about, so you did dodge a bullet with him, on the plus side.

2moThere are just as many prospective franchisees looking for a quick, easy, hastle-free start-up business as there are franchise brands looking for quick scalability without the necessary ingredients to help franchise owners succeed long term. Nothing worth building is (or should be...) easy and I've talked to a lot of franchise brands that are just not worth the investment... But I do know a couple Canadian Franchise brands that are doing way more to build sustainable businesses in every new territory and Luke, you are definitely leading one of them... 😉. Cudos to Driverseat for quickly identifying potential landmines and avoiding them.
