Thinking Outside the Box in Your Career? Here's the Real Deal. As an Executive Recruiter with nearly two decades in the field, I often hear professionals wanting to shift into completely unrelated jobs or sectors. Whilst the idea of "Thinking Outside of the Box" is appealing, here's the reality: ❌ Employers Want a Sure Bet: They use external recruiters (like me) to secure specific experience, industry knowledge, and proven track records. They rarely take risks on candidates unfamiliar with their space. 🔄 Career Changes Are Complex: Skills, industry-specific nuances, and existing networks matter. Transitioning isn't simple. 🎯 Proactive Strategies: If you're committed to change pursue relevant education, build your network, engage in side projects, and seek informational interviews. 💡 Remember, innovation is great, but career pivots require careful planning and effort. Go beyond thinking outside the box - take actionable steps to make your transition successful 👉 Go direct. DON'T rely on recruiters to make it happen for you - in most cases they can't help even if they want to. #CareerAdvice #CareerChange #Recruitment #ThinkOutsideTheBox #JobSearchTips

Helping others find their dream job 🚀 As a recruiter, there's nothing more satisfying than matching someone with their perfect job. When you help someone land their dream role, it's not just a job; it's a life-changing moment. It's about understanding their ambitions, recognising their potential and seeing the excitement in their eyes when they get that offer. That's a feeling you can't buy. But my job doesn't end there. Helping businesses find top talent is equally gratifying. Bringing in the right person can transform a team, drive innovation, and make a real difference to a company's success. Every hire has the power to shape a better future, not only for that individual but for the business as a whole. Why do I keep doing what I do? Because every successful placement is a win-win. The satisfaction comes from knowing I've made a positive impact on both sides. It's that balance that keeps me going. Helping people and businesses thrive is what makes this job so fulfilling. Most people, whether seeking new jobs or aiming to advance in their careers, face similar challenges. However, when it comes to hiring, there’s an important question recruiters must ask: How do you identify the right candidate? Typically, the hiring process follows a familiar pattern: Post a job opening. Define the job requirements and set qualification criteria. Assess candidates based on relevant experience. If the candidate checks all the boxes, they proceed to interviews that usually start with: "Tell me about yourself." Technical rounds. Assessments, and more. However, there’s an underlying truth: sometimes, the most remarkable candidates are among those who get rejected—often because they don’t meet some or other criteria. These individuals, despite lacking specific qualifications, may have the potential to outperform others and deliver extraordinary results. The real challenge lies in identifying that hidden gem. That’s what finding the right candidate is all about. #thoughts #somerealities #linkedinthoughts #workethics
