CLIMATE CHANGE FACETS: THE CONFUSING TERMINOLOGY USED IN THIS COMPLEX FIELD To be updated and catch up with the accelerating and broadening #climatecrisis, it is important to understand the actual language being used by the experts It is paramount to government authorities, policy/ decision makers as well to the wide public that wants to comprehend the most important subject to the future of our global society There is a very useful "The Climate Dictionary: an Everyday Guide to Climate Change" published by the #UNDP that can be downloaded for free and this book can complement it with a more lay language: New Climate Vocabulary Both serve the worldwide audience as it is crucial that understandings and significant decisions are not inadvertently mistaken We don't need more failures in the most fundamental issue our civilization has ever lived thru

Curious about climate change impacts to your local area? Its great to see the Global and National work, but what about at the State, or perhaps County level? What should I, as a local citizen or policy maker, be concerned about? The University of Washington Climate Impacts Group has put together a portal of consolidated climate information for public access. Great for researchers, planners, government officials, and citizens to better understand the current and future climate risk. (https://lnkd.in/guTZDts3) On the portal, I found that the WA state climatologist recently hosted this webinar that did a great job discussing diverse impacts across the state, where there is uncertainty, and where more data/research is needed. Easy to digest graphics and discussion points. Useful for climate enthusiasts and the general public. #sciencecommunication #climatechange https://lnkd.in/g-BptqJD

Today I have finished reading Backstage Climate: The Science and Politics Behind Climate Change by Rajan Mehta, and it’s a fantastic book. It explains the science of climate change in a way that’s easy to understand, covering why it’s happening and the dangers if we don’t act. The book also dives into the politics of climate change, showing why it’s often hard for countries to agree on solutions. Rajan makes it clear that we need both science and strong political action to fight climate change. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to understand the full story of the fight for our planet’s future. #ClimateChange #Sustainability #ClimateAction #BackstageClimate Rajan Mehta

Correct Answer: C) "The author, along with her collaborators, are working on a new book about climate change." Explanation: The correct answer is C. The subject "author, along with her collaborators" is singular, so it requires the singular verb "is" instead of the plural verb "are." Therefore, the corrected sentence is: "The author, along with her collaborators, is working on a new book about climate change."

A conceptual framework for responding to cross-border climate change impacts Key messages: ✔️The authors introduce a new typology for cross-border climate impacts and classify actors who manage them. ✔️This research propose a conceptual framework for identifying policy responses and governance approaches to address cross-border climate impacts. ✔️A logical process is presented for pairing impact types and response types and assessing response appropriateness. ✔️Cross-border climate impacts are best managed through response diversity and collaborative governance. https://lnkd.in/d9CYMnPK

Really helpful overview of current state of scenario planning. Glad to see the reference to IAMs and how they can model present and future energy uses and demand. In other words, businesses, investors and others concerned about transition risk should be using scenario planning just as much as those concerned about physical climate risk. Also, regulators working to ensure that climate risk assessments are reliable and comparable need to think about how scenario planning will inform these assessments. This is playing out not just in the countries following the IFRS standards, as noted here, but also in California as it implements the recently enacted SB 261.
📚 Don’t miss my latest Forbes post, A Beginner's Guide To Understanding Climate Change Scenarios. The motivation for writing this came from wanting to explain the basics, given how the use of scenarios is increasing, and to connect the gap between the science and how businesses use them. #climatechange #climatescenarios #thebasics Click here to read more: https://lnkd.in/dQ5AjT2x
