A lack of #gender-specific data often hinders the formulation of effective policies. Through The World Bank Strengthening Gender Statistics (SGS) project, gender-specific indicators on labor force participation, unemployment, mobile phone ownership, agricultural land ownership, among many others, have been made available for 12 partner countries. This information, available for research, policy design, and monitoring, can accelerate efforts to advance gender equality. We are not there yet but we are working on it. Happy International Women's Day! #GenderEquality is a core principle of the European Union and thus, it is to be implemented in the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region actions. There is a will to cooperate for a more equal #BalticSeaRegion where everyone has equal rights and opportunities, be it work, money, knowledge, time, power, health or any other aspect of life. Let's go! Ps. The European Institute for Gender Equality publishes Gender Index annually with a changing thematic focus. In 2023, the focus was on the socially fair transition of the European #GreenDeal, zooming into the following aspects: Public attitudes and behaviours on #climatechange and mitigation, energy, transport and decision-making. If this is not a good read for today, we don't know what is! This way to the report: https://lnkd.in/dKXZ-x63

In IUCN’s recent report, data shows why gender equality and women’s empowerment are essential for the global goals of achieving an inclusive and sustainable future. Strikingly, the research found that it will take 162 years for women to reach gender parity as the top leaders in environmental ministries. But we cannot sit and wait that long now can we? "We cannot afford to wait 162 years to ensure the insights, leadership and voices of all people are contributing to solutions." #SHEChangesClimate will continue to advocate for inclusion and diversity at all levels of decision-making to address the climate crisis. The recent IUCN report underscores the urgent need for gender equality and women's empowerment to create a sustainable future. Waiting 162 years for gender parity in environmental leadership is unacceptable. We must take action now to ensure that all voices are heard and all perspectives are included in addressing the climate crisis. Let's work together to build a more inclusive and sustainable world for future generations. #GenderEquality #ClimateAction 🌍

Waiting 162 years for #GenderParity is simply not an option, especially not in environmental ministries where elevating women's voices is part of the solution to effectively tackling the #ClimateCrisis. By amplifying the insights, leadership, and voices of women, we can build a more inclusive and sustainable future for all- but it will take recognition at a policy level from men alongside women too.

Research Insights: Utilising Data and Evidence Access to robust data and evidence is crucial. Research by Stevenson and Wootten (2020) shows that data-driven approaches lead to better decision-making and outcomes. Let’s use the power of data. 📊 #DataDriven #EvidenceBased #DecisionMaking" All references can be found in the paper "Understanding Gender Equality Policy and Practice Gaps Through the Lens. https://loom.ly/c7FXWtE Photo by Olesia Zadorozhna The image portrays a cosy scene with a sleeping cat, a book, and a cup of tea.

This is a thoughtful report by the IUCN, that is brought to my attention by SHE Changes Climate. It emphasizes how important it is for women to have equal rights and to be empowered in order to create a sustainable and inclusive future. It will take 162 years for women to reach gender parity as top officials in environmental ministries, according to the research's alarming statistic. However, we can't wait that long, can we? In order to develop practical and inclusive solutions, it is imperative that we utilize the leadership, perspectives, and voices of all people—regardless of gender—given the urgency of the climate problem. Diversity in gender is not only a question of justice; it is necessary for creative and all-encompassing solutions to environmental problems. I Jagila Jantiku am a strong supporter of the She Changes Climate campaign and think that for the planet's wellbeing, women must be empowered and represented in positions of decision-making. Together, let's quicken this transition and build a future in which each person's voice is respected and heard. #WomenEmpowerment #SustainableFuture #SheChangesClimate #ClimateAction #GenderEquality

The IUCN's recent report highlights that achieving gender equality and empowering women are crucial for a sustainable future. It’s alarming that it could take 162 years for women to reach gender parity in environmental leadership. We must act now. Countries with more women in parliament adopt greener policies, and companies with female leaders make more eco-friendly decisions. Let's push for gender equality to drive positive environmental change. #GenderEquality #WomensEmpowerment #Sustainability #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalLeadership

March 8, 2024 🔔 ☯️ Achieving gender equality and women’s well-being in all aspects of life is more crucial than ever if we want to create prosperous economies and a healthy planet. However, we are facing a key challenge: the alarming $360 billion annual deficit in gender-equality measures by 2030. ❗Just 5% of government aid is focused on tackling violence against women and girls, and less than 0.2% is directed to its prevention. https://lnkd.in/dbY68EMS #internationalwomensday #womenrights #genderequality

Yes it is great to be #4 in the world but how relevant is that when your pay gap is 20%, when you have 1 in 3 chance of being violently abused in your lifetime, when your retirement savings are 36% less than mens or when you look at CEOs of NZ organisations and see that only 14% are lead by women. There is so much more to be done to create a truly equitable Aotearoa for all genders.
We are excited to share that New Zealand has been ranked 4th in the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap 2024 report. 🌏🌟 The Global Gender Gap Index tracks the progress of countries’ efforts towards closing gender gaps in education, health, economic participation, and political empowerment. New Zealand has ranked 4th on the Index since 2021. This ranking highlights our nation's strong commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of all citizens. While we celebrate this accomplishment, our journey towards full gender equality continues, and we remain focused on creating equal opportunities for all. To solve a problem, we first need to understand it. 🔎 Globally, almost half (49%) of the data needed to monitor gender equality targets of SDGs and 80% of the data needed to measure gender-environment progress are missing. This makes it hard to identify which areas need urgent attention and which strategies are working. #NourishEquality outlines solutions to close these data gaps by strengthening how we collect and analyze data, deepening our understanding of gender-nutrition links, and coordinating how to track progress.
