Season 2, Episode 4 is now live! This week on The Collective Wisdom Podcast, I sit down with April Uchitel— a corporate leader with an impressive background in beauty, fashion, and tech. From her roles as CEO of Violet Grey to EVP at Diane Von Furstenberg and CBO at Spring, April is now the CEO and Co-founder of WE ARE THE BOARD, a community driven platform dedicated to connection, empowering, and elevating purpose-driven leaders. In a world where we’re often defined by KPIs, roadmaps, and titles, there comes a moment when we start to ask: Is this all there is? Many of us reach a point where we want to bring our skills into spaces that have deeper impact or fulfill a sense of purpose, but the practicalities—like mortgages and bills—keep us tethered. This is where reinvention begins. It’s about integrating who you are with who you’re becoming, not abandoning your current path. It’s possible to show up fully without compromising one part of yourself to nurture another. We just need a new framework for success—one that lets us live and lead with purpose, while honoring all of our commitments. Whether you’re rethinking your own career path or simply looking for inspiration, this episode offers so much wisdom, career advice, and insights into what it means to show up fully. Be sure to check it out and share it in your circles. “As leaders in an increasingly polarized society, it's crucial that we recognize the talent within our organizations. Incredible talents are often overlooked, underutilized, or placed in situations that are bound to fail. The consequence of this is stagnant teams and underperforming businesses because our people feel disconnected. However, it's not the people who are broken; it's our organizational systems that require fixing.” That is a bold statement made by Dr Mary-Clare Race, the President of Talking Talent, and my guest on the Women Taking the Lead podcast. In this episode Mary-Clare and I discussed: 🌎 The history DEI and the current state of DEI efforts around the globe. 🌎 The importance of considering the ecosystem vs. the individual when looking at change. 🌎 Where companies can make investments in the coming year to see meaningful progress. 🌎 How the most effective programs will both customize to the organization and personalize to the individual. 🌎 Why, when psychological safety is introduced to a team or organization, the issues can appear to get worse before they get better. What have been your experiences on organizational change? #DiversityAndInclusion #Coaching #OrganizationalChange

Is business success more important than society's well-being? 🤔 I recently listened to an insightful podcast featuring Barry McCarthy, CEO of Deluxe Corporation. While he shared valuable perspectives on economic success, it got me thinking: Should we flip the script on how businesses view their role in society? In my upcoming book, "And God Creates Business First," I propose a bold idea: > "We help communities thrive so businesses can succeed within an ethical and sustainable society." This approach puts community first, recognizing that true business success is intrinsically linked to a strong, healthy society. What do you think? Should businesses prioritize societal well-being to achieve sustainable success? Share your thoughts below! 👇 #EthicalBusiness #Leadership #SocietyFirst #SustainableSuccess #ConsciousCapitalism The image is done by Dell-E

Have you ever struggled with balancing your drive for success and your personal life? In this snippet from our High Growth Leadership Podcast, Rachel Jones, Founder and Non-Executive Director of SnapDragon Monitoring, reflects on an important lesson she shared at our Women in Leadership Event. The High Growth Leadership Podcast is all about dissecting actionable insights from founders to guide other aspiring entrepreneurs and leaders on their own growth journeys. Rachel’s candid response highlights a personal challenge many founders face; Finding that elusive balance between work and life, especially when scaling a high-growth business. It raises an important question that many leaders grapple with: is it really about balance, or is it more of a blend? And how do you decide what and when to prioritise? Rachel chose to recalibrate her priorities, stepping into a Non-Executive Director role to regain control over her time and focus on her well-being. 🎧 Watch the full episode for more insights on this topic and a range of lessons from Rachel on how she grew a successful, VC-backed technology platform. 𝗔 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗞𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮’𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗺: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 Did you catch Vice President Kamala Harris’ interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast? She shared a profound leadership lesson her mother taught her. A lesson that, at first, struck me as potentially reinforcing outdated gender norms. But as Kamala explained, it revealed a deeper brilliance, and I wanted to share it here in case you missed it. 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙬𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜, 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙆𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙖’𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙢 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙖𝙨𝙠, “𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤?” At first glance, this might seem like shifting blame or suggesting personal fault, regardless of the circumstances. However, as Kamala described, it wasn’t about blame. It was about reflection and 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆. Agency to consider our actions, reactions, and choices. She emphasized that while we can’t control every outcome, we can control how we respond, 𝘀𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀. This is a great reminder [to me at least] that when things don’t go as planned, it’s not about beating yourself up or vilifying others. Instead, it’s an opportunity to grow—asking yourself, “Where did I have influence?" and "What can I learn from this?” I continue to share leadership lessons here. Hope they’ve sparked some insight or introspection for you.
