🧐 With that old phone, the communication seems difficult between Astrid and I 😂 This week, we are talking about diversity at PwC Luxembourg and obviously, it is impossible to ignore the #generationalgap. 📼 ☎ 📠 or 💾 , everything was there to remind us that time passes and that with it, the flow of generations takes shape. Boomers, Gen Z, X or Millenials have notable differences that cannot be ignored. But how can we turn this difficulty into an opportunity for businesses? How to improve living and working together? To avoid misunderstanding, divergences and conflicts, I am putting down a few loose ideas here: 💥 let's encourage the oldest to pass on their knowledge to the youngest through mentoring or simply working in pairs 💥let's strengthen the bond between the teams by promoting each person's skills 💥let's train and inform to develop understanding, tolerance and the desire to reach out to others and defuse age-related stereotypes 💥 let's establish a transparent dialogue and then maintain communication between everyone at all costs ✍ Do you have other ideas to share? Working in an #inclusiveenvironment where #diversity is recognized as a strength is an enrichment to experience on a daily basis. I am lucky to be able to live in this kind of environment that I call “my people laboratory”. 😍

Recently, my daughter and I had an unprompted conversation about inclusion. Like many kids her age, she’s navigating the challenges of being included, being left out, and the choices we make about who to bring into our circles. We talked about how important it is to include others—not just because it’s kind, but because it helps us grow and evolve. Of course, navigating situations where inclusion isn’t happening can be tough, especially at her age. We talked about strategies she can use when faced with exclusion—standing up for herself and others, practicing empathy, and knowing when to set healthy boundaries without losing her own sense of self. These are lessons that, honestly, apply to ALL of us. This conversation got me reflecting on the work I do at PwC, where inclusion isn’t just a value—it’s how we solve problems. On our Emerging Tech and R&D team, the best solutions come from integrating diverse skill sets: technologists, accountants, industry experts, domain experts and innovators collaborating to challenge assumptions and approach problems from every angle. True innovation happens when we bring together people with different expertise, experiences, and viewpoints. Inclusion isn’t just something to teach—it’s something to live. It’s the foundation for growth, impact, and progress, both for ourselves and the world around us.

🏆Bain & Company ranks 9th in our study of the Cognitive Diversity of Professional Services firms, putting them just below EY and Deloitte, but above PwC and McKinsey & Company. Cognitive Diversity goes beyond traditional diversity metrics such as race, gender, or ethnicity. It focuses on how people work, think and interact, which can significantly enhance an organization's performance and ability to innovate. By embracing cognitive diversity, Professional Services firms can not only improve their internal dynamics but also better serve their clients and stay ahead in a competitive landscape. Bain & Company's score of +24 indicates that the organization likely fosters a variety of viewpoints and thought processes, promoting innovation, creativity, and adaptability in its teams. 🌍 In a world that’s more connected and divided than ever, can we turn cultural differences into our greatest strength? I’ve just completed the "Developing Cross-Cultural Intelligence" course, and I’m more convinced than ever that the answer lies in building bridges. The ability to collaborate effectively with people from different backgrounds is no longer just a soft skill - it’s a critical competency. At BCG, we know this firsthand. With 57% of our new consulting hires identifying as racial/ethnic minorities and inclusion at the heart of our mission, we understand that diversity fuels innovation and impact (2024-bcg-us-diversity-e…). Here’s what I learned: 1️⃣ Cultural intelligence is a superpower🦸♂️. It fosters collaboration, resolves conflict, and unlocks creativity - all essential for addressing our global crises. 2️⃣ Diversity is measurable progress: Inclusive organizations see a 31% increase in happiness and a 25% boost in motivation. 3️⃣ BCG’s DEI commitment inspires me! Not that BCG is perfect, we are just committed to do the work. From Inclusion Accelerators in all 27 US offices to achieving a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Equality Index, I’m proud to work for a firm that drives systemic change (2024-bcg-us-diversity-e…). This course wasn’t just a checkbox—it was a step toward creating the inclusive world we all need. How are you building cross-cultural bridges in your work? Let’s exchange ideas! 🌟 #CrossCulturalIntelligence #DEI #Leadership #Collaboration #BCG

🌟 Creating Change Through Inclusion at PwC 🌟 Professional services are often perceived as male-dominated, but PwC is breaking that stereotype by fostering an inclusive culture where everyone is encouraged to bring their unique perspectives to the table. Through initiatives like Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), PwC is creating spaces that promote diversity of thought and provide resources, mentorship, and support to help everyone thrive. These programs reflect the firm’s commitment to building an environment where underrepresented voices are heard, valued, and empowered. A friendly reminder: show kindness to people as we're all doing our best. According to a Deloitte University study (link in comments), business performance improves by 80% when levels of kindness are high. Even in the most competitive environments there is room for support, collaboration, and fair play. Let's strive to compete with dignity and respect. What are your thoughts on this? 🎉 #Diversity and #Inclusion at PwC: A Behind-the-Scenes Look with Leila 🌈 As a mom of two little boys, the topics of diversity and inclusion are especially close to my heart. I want them to grow up with an open mindset and stand up for diversity. That’s why I’m excited to share my interview with Leila, part of our Enterprise Cloud Solutions (ECS) team. She openly talks about her experiences as a queer woman of color at PwC Deutschland. Enjoy reading and discovering Leila’s journey at PwC! 👋 First Impression of PwC: "Before I started, I didn’t know much about PwC, just that it’s part of the Big 4 and I recognized the tower in Frankfurt. From friends and family, I heard that it’s a prestigious company with a lot of work, so I was curious to see how it really is." 👩🏽💼 Difference from the Classic Employee Image: "During my first week at the onboarding event, I was pleasantly surprised by the diversity of the participants. However, when my traineeship in Frankfurt started, I noticed that many people fit the more traditional consultant profile, which made me feel a bit insecure at first as a queer woman of color." 🤝 Inclusivity at PwC and within the Team (ECS): "PwC puts in a lot of effort to be inclusive, especially regarding background, sexuality, and gender identities. Within our team, I really appreciate the openness and diversity, and we also have several English-speaking colleagues who are well integrated into the team." 🌟 Surprises at the Start: "On the very first day of onboarding, networks like 'Shine' and 'Mosaik' were mentioned, which really surprised me in a positive way. It’s encouraging to see that PwC actively supports such initiatives." 🌈 PwC's Networks 'Shine' and 'Mosaik': "These networks give me a sense of safety and understanding. They show that PwC takes diversity seriously. Through both networks, I’ve had the chance to meet amazing people, and I hope to have more opportunities like this in the future." 💡 Personal Benefits from the Networks: "I think it’s fantastic that 'Mosaik' is such a large network with sub-networks in different locations. It’s also great that everyone can be part of these networks. Education on issues like racism and sexism is important, and it’s nice to see that even people who aren’t directly affected are getting involved." 🧠 Mental Health: "In a big company like PwC, it’s important that everyone has the chance to work and live healthily. Julia and Alexander from our team are great role models in this regard, as they place a strong emphasis on mental health and actively work to ensure everyone is doing well." 🚀 Room for Improvement: "PwC is already doing a lot to promote diversity. However, I would like to see us become even more diverse internally, not just outwardly. Different types of people and backgrounds should be even more represented here." #CultureOfBelonging #ComingOutDay

I have just come across Deloitte's 'Can you see me?' campaign which aims to increasing the visibility of people from underrepresented groups, and making sure they are seen, valued, and celebrated for who they are. What an powerful campaign which paves the way for achieving true inclusion. Below is a link to the Neurodiversity Inclusion campaign which features video stories from Rebecca and Delphine, give them a watch! https://lnkd.in/eWGqdJ_n
