Your vote actually matters for local politics. Sure, your vote might not flip the presidential race, but it WILL change who makes decisions about your kid's school. And your local taxes. And a ton of things that impact your daily life. And there's a lot of local offices up for election next week. We all do our own research right? Lies. Most people I know don't know anything about the local offices. They argue about the presidential race, and then wing the rest. Me too mostly. But this year I care. And doing my own research is time consuming! So yesterday I made a super simple guide for the ballot - you're welcome. Here's the notion doc: https://lnkd.in/gbGY5tCC I intentionally left out the party affiliation. If you care that much, I think you're doing it wrong. Local offices should be about who's actually going to do the job well. Not in my area? Steal my prompt (in the notes), plug it into Perplexity.ai, and make your own list. Not sure when/where to vote? Use https://lnkd.in/gZr4ueEV to find out.

Not sure how to complete your ballot this election? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! 🗳️ Here’s how to make sure your vote counts: 1️⃣ **Start at the top**: Be sure to read each section carefully. Some ballots may have specific instructions (like using a black or blue pen, or filling in a bubble completely). Be sure to read and follow them so your vote counts. 2️⃣ **Check for federal and local races**: You’ll see candidates for federal offices (President, Vice President, Senator, etc.) as well as state or local offices (governor, mayor, city council). Research these candidates before you vote! 3️⃣ **Ballot measures**: You might have to decide on important laws or constitutional amendments. Read the description carefully and research pro/con perspectives ahead of time—these can be tricky, but they matter! 4️⃣ **Review before submitting**: Double-check your selections to make sure everything is marked correctly. A small mistake can impact your vote!

Rumour has it that Ontario’s Conservative political strategists within Premier Doug Ford's inner circle are quietly but seriously discussing the possibility of an early election for Ontario, potentially as soon as Fall 2024 or early Spring 2025? This consideration comes on the heels of recent by-election victories in Milton and Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, bolstering the party's confidence. Are Ontario’s political conservative strategists exercising their hubris or is there some method to the madness strategy they are proposing? The article below will delve in all sides of the argument and potential looming decision ahead.
Will there be an Election in September 2024 or Early Spring 2025?

Get out and vote! Today is Election Day and every vote matters. Over the past couple of months I’ve had numerous conversations with colleagues, friends, family and even strangers in the grocery store. In those conversations many have shared that they do not like either candidate nor see the point in voting. I get it, this is a tough election for many but not voting is not the answer. You have the right to vote. If you do not like either candidate, then focus more on the party and what that party stands for, think about the candidate that most represents the future you want for this country. Remove all the noise and focus on what matters most to you. Whatever your reason or strategy, VOTE. Finally, remember you are not just voting for our next president. From your local school committee to your state’s congressional delegation and approval of state projects, the future of your town/city, state and country is in your hands. There are many reasons why you should vote and it’s important that you take advantage of your right to do so. #vote #electionday

Tomorrow, everyone will focus on PA, MI, WI, NV, and maybe a few other States. This is roughly 10% of the US population. Everyone's vote matters. But for the major party Presidential candidates, some votes matter more than others. If you have ever thought "why is it this way?" or "what's the deal?" or "how does this make sense?" or "can it maybe not be like this?" then you are not alone. There is one major reason why roughly 90% of the US population matters less to the major party candidates during the Presidential election: the Electoral College. In 2020, the Harvard Law & Policy Review published an article that I wrote with Prof. Sam Wang at the Princeton Election Consortium on problems with the Electoral College. If you want better understand why Election Day can feel so frustrating and helpless (or if you just can't take another look at the televsion) check out the article below: #electoralcollege #2024election https://lnkd.in/gKuu3BgC

We've all heard that sad old song about how voting doesn't matter, nothing ever changes... but Down Home members like the ones you see here are ready to teach you a new one. Because what we are learning through connecting with our neighbors, practicing deep listening, and taking action about the things that matter most is that voting DOES matter, and it can help you make BIG CHANGES. Like in 2022, when we helped break the supermajority. Or when we elected members who had organized on a local budget campaign into office in our small town. We're building multiracial, working class, rural power all over the state. By working hard in elections — and continuing to build together in between. Make a plan to vote. Then stick around and keep building. There's so much we can win if we work together y'all. Click here or at the link in our bio: dhnc.info/Commit2Win
