Connecting Top Tier Legal Talent with Prestigious Law Firms! Account Executive/Sr. Recruiter @ Direct Talent Solutions | Expertise in sourcing, networking & candidate assessment | | [email protected]
After dedicating 15 years to her previous firm, she took a leap of faith and joined a new firm. However, she soon realized that the change wasn’t the right fit for her career goals and personal satisfaction. 🙉 🙉 🙉 🙉 🙉 🙉 🙉 Making the right career move is crucial. Recently, I had the pleasure of assisting a seasoned litigation paralegal who, after 15 successful years with her previous firm, decided to explore new opportunities. She took a leap of faith and joined a new firm, only to discover that it wasn’t the perfect match for her career aspirations and work-life balance. She was concerned about being perceived as a job hopper and having her loyalty questioned. Understanding the challenges of such transitions, I worked closely with her to find a role that truly aligned with her professional goals and personal satisfaction. After a thorough discussion and careful consideration, we were able to secure her a new position that not only matched her skills and experience but also embraced her extensive background and dedication. I also took the time to explain the situation to the new firm, setting expectations and anticipating potential concerns from the beginning. This proactive approach helped address any questions and concerns upfront, demonstrating her stability and commitment rather than any perceived instability or negative implications from her recent career move. This experience highlights the importance of aligning career moves with long-term goals and personal satisfaction. For anyone navigating similar transitions, remember that finding the right fit is worth the effort, and having a supportive advocate can make all the difference. If you're looking to make a career move or need top talent for your firm, let’s connect. Success is all about the right fit!

I worked at a big firm for over four years, gaining valuable experience and a good paycheck. There's a lot to like about starting a career in Biglaw, despite the long hours. If you can swing it, it's a good place to start. However, most people don't make partner at a big firm. By your fifth year, you'll likely have to decide between going in-house, working for the government, or doing something else. Many never consider plaintiffs' work, even though we get to do a lot of good for people and typically make more money than in-house or government positions. Plaintiffs' work allows you to directly impact clients' lives, fight for justice, and often offers a better work-life balance. It's a challenging and rewarding career path that more lawyers should explore. If you're considering a career change, don't overlook the potential of plaintiffs' work.

Motivation Monday thoughts - Finding your area of giftedness is crucial for a successful and fulfilling career journey. My experience of starting as an analyst for a retail department store post-college was a job, but not my gift. Transitioning to a labor and employment paralegal role marked the beginning of discovering my true calling. Taking that leap of faith, leaving a job behind, was pivotal in finding my passion. #MotivationMonday #CareerJourney #PassionDiscovery #Findyourmission

I'm thrilled to share that I’ve accepted a position as Operations Manager at RKCA Investment Banking, where I’ll be managing portfolio companies and driving value for our investors. When I decided to transition from active duty 18 months ago, I was unprepared for the magnitude of the challenge. Despite my belief that I was well-equipped due to previous career transitions and relocations, this transition proved to be the most arduous one I've ever faced. The change from active duty to civilian life is far more than a career change or a shift in roles and responsibilities. It is a tumultuous journey of finding an identity in a completely different world, working alongside people who probably cannot relate to your past experiences, and (at a minimum) de-jargoning your language to include fewer 4-letter "colorful" words. Here are a few lessons from this transition: 1️. Ask for help. People are eager to support veterans, especially fellow vets. "Veterans help veterans" was a lifeline during my job search and I pledge to pay that forward. 2. The recruiting algorithm is brutal. You’ve got to figure out what buzzwords they are looking for within the job description; otherwise, you’ll never get a conversation. That's where networking can differentiate your success and you can never start too early (I'd recommend starting to network at least 18-months out). 3️. Recruiters: Give us a shot. Veterans bring adaptability, grit, and unique perspectives. Don’t let our untraditional path or lack of buzzwords in our resumes prevent you from starting a conversation. 💡 Pro Tip: I tried to send handwritten postcards to everyone I met thanking them for their mentorship. Typically, you can find their addresses in their email signatures. It’s a small gesture that leaves a big impact. I'm grateful for the mentors and friends who’ve guided me, including Dave Knox, Sarah Billiter Cameron, Les Craig, Stephanie Markich, McDaniel, Chad Summe, Corey Wylde, and many others. Thank you for your support. I look forward to continuing the conversations and hope I can continue to learn from you. Cheers to establishing roots in Cincinnati and beginning my next chapter at RKCA!

I have been made redundant twice in my Estate Agency career. Both times it wasn’t a complete kick in the 🥜s In hindsight I learned these things 1. Make sure you go through the ‘feeling sorry for yourself’. 2. Next, dust yourself down & pick yourself back up. 3. Get out of the house, exercise even if it’s a long walk every day. You have to keep the head clear and your energy levels up for the journey ahead 4. Ask trusted friends & advisors who will give you honest, yet brutal feedback & truth. Stuff you need to hear, not what you want to hear Everyone’s Estate & Letting agency career falls apart at some point(s) in their life. That is not your fault- it’s how you deal it that matters & determines what happens next. As long as you are doing the best you can as a man/women, as an agent, as a parent, then that is all you can do. Don’t forget, we are only human and being a human being is supposed to suck at times.
