What would a day in your life look like? Here, let me go first; Trust me, it isn't easy to wake up in the early mornings to dress up for school work. Whenever I get to where I teach early enough, I have a new drive to start work and not wait till school dismisses at the end of the day. Once, I am back home, I try to relax. Eating or cooking what needs to be eaten will follow up next before I hop on my phone for remote work. In this way, my typical evening is spent writing drafts on paper; trying to flesh the ideas I have stored in Google Docs to life through MS Word, making research based on topics from the agency where I work as a volunteer content writer. Crafting plot summaries, chapter outlines, and writing full chapters happen when I have a new milestone. Next, I reply to a few texts, engage and make a post on LinkedIn or Medium, scroll through Facebook, and check my emails. The night ends with me rounding off some housework, taking a peep at my favorite Zeeworld series, and reading through a new or existing ebook. Many times, I had wanted to give up on showing up consistently. . . . But these are the things that keep me motivated. There is that one person who will be blessed through the value you are sharing. There is that one person who needs your services to move to the next stage of his or her life. There is that one person who is motivated by what you do. You know, I have conversations with my clients and their responses have been "This book has been long overdue for release. I want to conclude on it and move on to the next thing." Now, you can imagine how I'm helping them actualize or smash their goals. It's a joy for me personally. I'm getting fulfilled, and so also my clients. Like I will always tell people, as much as I love to write and I'm earning from my writing skills, it's beyond making money. It's all about doing what God wants me to do and I'm impacting lives with it. Whether I'm writing content or editing manuscripts for people, all who get to read all that I have worked on will be impacted. So, what's that one thing that keeps you going? What's that one thing that keeps you motivated? Keep doing it consistently. Keep showing up, irrespective. Post your business daily and register it in the faces of people. “Writing is a craft, not an art, and the man who runs away from his craft because he lacks inspiration is fooling himself. He is also going broke.” Yes, we do social media management, but at the very core of who we are, we are writers. We use experiences, ideas and words — your experiences, ideas and words — to achieve whatever goal you have. For our clients, that goal is to create content that authentically connects with audiences in a way that invites them to work with / buy from their business. To do that well, we have to hone in on our craft. While I’m in St. Mary’s on the PA Wilds are Working program, I’ve set aside time every day to study. (I go back and forth between business and writing books, because I’m exciting like that.) So many people are held back in their professions because they feel like education is something that needs to be done outside of their job. When really, education needs to be a part of their job. I’m not taking a break by reading these books. I am not giving myself time away from work. I am not ignoring my client projects. It is my job to be as good as possible at what I do so I can deliver the best possible work to my clients. & sometimes, that means reading a book that was assigned to me as a freshman in college. Every time I see my skills slip, or when I notice they’ve stayed consistent for far too long, leveling up becomes a part of my day-to-day job. Luckily for me, my little remote work retreat is the perfect backdrop to really dive in. It made me realize a lot of things that have happened, both the high and low moments. Reflecting on the past events also made me realize how faithful God has been. Indeed, God can be trusted. It also made me appreciate the growth that has happened over the years. It was also a form of evaluation for me to know what to do next and how to improve on my next course of action. So, tell me.
