For all my Senior friends from NorthJersey.com and the Greater Bergen County Community Actions - NJ program offers up to $15K in home renovations for vulnerable groups Healthy Homes program offers up to $15K in home renovations for vulnerable groups For those who find themselves struggling to afford the necessary home repairs and improvements to keep their environment safe, there's a new program that aims to help. Greater Bergen Community Action has launched its Healthy Homes program, an initiative that aims to remediate environmental hazards in 140 residential units throughout Bergen and Passaic counties. For each, the organization is offering up to $15,000 worth of essential home improvements — to address risks like mold, lead and structural deficiencies — to vulnerable income-eligible populations like seniors age 65 years and older, disabled individuals and families with young children. It is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Program Director Avery Headley said GBCA was one of just 20 organizations nationwide — and one of two in New Jersey — to receive the grant. https://lnkd.in/e2XMrhh7 https://lnkd.in/eVWB_HS4

New FEANTSA response 🚨 Last month the Council of the European Union released their Conclusions on fostering the lasting legacy of major sporting events 🏆The document attempts to offer a balanced analysis of how to ensure a long-term positive impact of major sporting events, considering the importance of a sustainable and socially and locally integrated approach. The Conclusions, unfortunately, fail to provide a substantial reflection on the significant impact of such events on homelessness and housing, despite the recent and historical mistreatment of people experiencing homelessness in the name of major sporting events. Fantastic day at YPO's Real Estate Rountable in #Dallas. Hard to beat hearing from former President George W. Bush this aftenroon but the thing that stuck with me today was from pollster Frank Luntz. For all of you younger parents... He had 6 insight tips on how to raises healthy and successful children: 1 - How often do you dinner w/ your children? 5 nights or more you show your child they are the most important thing in life. 2 - How often do you take them to religious services? 3 - How often do you check their homework? 4 nights or more is what is needed. 4 - Do you take your kids away for trips and leave the phone in the room? 5 - Do you know where they are on Friday + Saturday nights? Do you know who their friends are? If they lie to you about that… then… 6 - Do they participate in a team sport? Get 5 of 6 of these down… You are more likely to raise successful and healthy children. Now... off to Palm Springs for ICSC's Western Dealmaking! #CRE #conferenceseason

"But why? We’re a grassroots lobbying organization. Why are we spending our time on local placemaking events? Because study after study has confirmed that local events and cultural expression are the glue of the community. Socially, emotionally, and yes: economically. A community where locals don’t know their neighbors, don’t participate in local arts, and don’t take pride in their community is a community where people don’t spend their money. In other words: our disconnection from one another and from our public spaces literally make us more poor, as a community." #economicdevelopment #grassrootsaction #environmentaljustice #economicjustice #stakeholders #michiganbusiness https://lnkd.in/gYbG7eHf

Rich recently took the campaign to Stamford, CT. By all accounts, Stamford is growing and thriving. When we think about the change we hope to see in this country, it’s easy to look past the communities that are doing well. In fact, even within these communities, a sense of apathy can begin to creep in. For communities like this, the question becomes, is the community working for all of us or just some of us? And as we move forward, how can we make sure that everyone is moving forward together? Here's more in our video from the campaign trail on Stamford, CT. https://bit.ly/4beca0D
