No shoes is a dress code I love. Putting socks and dress shoes on, being back on the road in Texas was recharging. Spending time with parishes and diocese leaders in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin and Waco planning strategies to enhance their impact on souls reignites my passion for why we support the Church.. and do what we do everyday. God has placed each of us in this sector at this particular time for a reason. Helping priests and parish leaders overcome the scarcity mindset that plagues religious organizations. Priests aren't necessarily discerned for fundraising and philanthropy. Parish budgets aren't usually able to support the skill set necessary to design, implement and analyze outreach strategies. Having to leave the comfort of home office dress code (yes never wearing socks or shoes is the best) and hit the airport, car rental facility, gas station beverage center and local groceries in hopes to encourage one parish to take one step forward for the future of their community is a blessing each of us have. Our founder was on her way to attend a Disability Luncheon with the Mayor. Before arriving at her final destination, protestors could be seen and heard outside of the bus window. Commotions occurred on the bus. Conversations ranging from admiration to feeling in-different about Trump presents in Chicago. It's now after 2pm. Our founder decides to observe the protests, but upon arrival on two people were left. Disagreement on Project 2025 erupted. Blaq Gurl Fya's founder views Project 2025 as propaganda. Love the idea of public service but don't want to become a politician? 20 years ago, I attended the Democratic National Convention. I was working on the presidential campaign at the time. There, I witnessed a then-state senator talk about unifying red states and blue states. It was inspiring, but it didn’t spark a desire to run for office. Instead, it made me realize that there are countless ways to serve your country without stepping into the political arena. Here are a few ways you can make an impact: 1. Mentorship Share your knowledge and experience with the next generation.    2. Nonprofit Work Join or support organizations that align with your values. 3. Community Involvement Volunteer for local initiatives or serve on community boards. 4. Advocacy Use your voice to champion causes that matter to you 5. Military service Be a part of something greater than yourself (I joined) You don't have to hold a political title to make a difference. Service comes in many forms. Find the one that resonates with you and dive in. How are you serving your community?

When I was a young warthog... (a 24-year old college student at Rowan University)... I was tasked with creating an original Public Relations plan for a small community group called, "Main Street Woodbury." This non-profit was at the forefront of rejuvenating and reinvigorating the culture of the community's downtown section which had become riddled with crime and decay over the years...(we will not say which way this community leans politically). Anyhow, the part of the plan that had the biggest impact on me was the Potter Box. So simple. Yet, so profound. A true yin and yang analysis of your strategy and how it will move across a marketplace or audience. So, as marketers, how do we find alignment and get to the core of our processes? The answer is simple - we remember why we are doing it. As Pink Floyd once said, "how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?" That is to say - how can we enjoy the sweet splendors of our victory if we do not dive deeply and fearlessly into the muscly, meaty and often times difficult parts of our intent? It is important as marketers to leave no question unanswered and to actively seek ways to be a faithful steward to your "WHY?"

The past week has been non-stop, in all the best ways, and one of the highlights was a midweek City of Richmond Department of Economic Development Authority Board Meeting. I've heard recently that people aren't aware of the volunteer service that I undertake, and what I consider as core to what I do. I feel that civic service and helping to build up the city is key to giving back. My volunteer service looks a little different than what traditionally comes to mind. I serve and have served in a number of different boards and committees throughout the years. By my last count, I'm on eleven different boards, committees, advisory groups, sub-committees, etc, ranging from service with Richmond Association of REALTORS®, Virginia REALTORS® National Association of REALTORS®, Seven Hills School, & City of Richmond EDA. I've also been involved with SMCRVA (IYKYK), Special Olympics Virginia, Inc., Commission of Architectural Review for the City of Richmond, & Henrico CASA Every time I get on a new committee or board, I feel out of place, out of my element. But I read, I listen, I learn, I always try to rise to the responsibility that has been entrusted in me. The leaders you see in these places aren't smarter than everyone else (although they are wonderful, smart, capable leaders). They are ready to put themselves out there. They are dedicated to making their communities better and serving the greater good. There are many positions that go unfilled in boards and committees that deserve more attention, whether it's a city, state, or non-profit role. SATURDAY MORNING (NOVEMBER 2ND) at 8:30 AM our amazing Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Phoenix will be cleaning up the community once again! In honor of Kenny "Fanatic" Hogan, for this Community Clean-Up (PHX) our volunteers will be meeting up in the parking lot of Rodriguez Boxing Club, located at 1350 W Roosevelt St Phoenix, AZ 85007 to clean up Roosevelt St. from 7th Ave to 19th Ave. NO OPEN-TOED SHOES Cleaning up loose trash is one of the best ways to pitch in for your community and the environment. Volunteering as a means to help conserve and protect the environment has a lot of upsides. Of course, the first is that you’ll be taking care of our planet, and it badly needs a little love given the myriad ways in which we’ve become adept at destroying it. But beyond that, volunteering for a cause you care about is a great way to meet like-minded people, make friends, and pull yourself out of the blues that sometimes accompany caring a lot about something important – especially if you feel alone in your endeavors. None of us like the sight of litter. Litter spoils the look of where we live but that’s not the only reason for picking up litter. There are a number of benefits from picking up litter that you may not have considered before. Volunteer-led projects such as these are one of the quickest, simplest, and least expensive ways to inspire more community spirit and civic action. A visually appealing community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image. Beauty is one of the three most influential factors in community attachment, which means loyalty, to your particular town or city.
