📈 Globally, it's estimated that 97% of eligible patients for CAR-T therapies have been unable to access them... According to McKinsey & Company, in 2023 the number of eligible patients for FDA approved CAR-T therapies were estimated to reach 900k. However – as calculated by our patient access data – approximately 28k patients had received treatment by the end of Q1 2024. Despite incredible advancements in scientific developments and clinical efficacy, manufacturing has struggled to keep pace, meaning these advancements are failing to translate into viable, widely available therapy options for patients. We all agree the status quo is not good enough. We need to urgently redefine our approach to manufacturing to meet this growing unmet need, not just focusing on curative efficacy but also on patient access goals. Our aim should be to provide therapies that are not only approvable but also accessible and affordable. Delighted to share details of a new collaboration between #teamdecisive and uMed. uMed have created a unique approach to scalable real world evidence which aims to Improve disease understanding both from a clinical and patient perspective. The cohort platform studies they have created enable a range of evidence gaps to be tackled by combining electronic health records with clinical and patient generated data. We are truly excited by the potential of these dynamic data sets to help explore and address uncertainty in HTA - for example by informing burden of disease, examining treatment patterns, confirming unmet need and providing important insights into existing standard of care. At Decisive Consulting Ltd much of our work is focused on helping companies to anticipate and plan for evidence gaps and opportunities to strengthen the value proposition for new treatments. Now working in partnership with uMed we can identify the gaps and design rapid, readily implementable solutions that draw on cutting edge data collection and linkage. Initially focused on cohort studies in Parkinson’s Disease and Cardiometabolic conditions this is an exciting new way to approach evidence generation for access success.
