It's Week 6 of our 12 Weeks of Christmas. Here we are at Gift Planning. Check your list of people and check it twice decide whether you can really do a Secret Santa for £20 or if it's better you make something that the recipient may appreciate more and won't break you doing. These are only a few ideas to get you started. Something for everyone and something for all skills levels. You got this. Remember made gifts aren't "cheap", they may not have cost a lot in ingredients and materials but they are worth more because you put your thought, love and time into them. Quick informal survey... Let's say you are attending an event (conference / meeting / party) where the host is giving everyone a small gift...as the recipient of the gift, would you rather get an identical thing to everyone else there or would you rather choose from among several similar options? Similar options could be things like the same item, but a different style or color. Edit to original post since initial responses are leaning towards choice... there are some benefits to giving everyone the same thing and there are some benefits to receiving the same item as everyone else. I would like to uncover some of the benefits of each approach for the recipient if possible. (I've been helping to give gifts for years under particular assumptions and am questioning those assumptions to see what I can learn 😀 )

Holiday Gifting can be so easy..

Is your life following the first way or the second? I’ve been pondering on this: Anytime a gift is given, the recipient must choose to respond in one of the two ways. The first way says; This gift is so valuable it can’t be risked. Those who follow the first way realize that when the gift is brought out of the box and into the open, things may not always go well. The gift may be poorly used sometimes. It may not always be admired by others the way we want. It may even get broken. Taking the gift out of the box is always a risk. The second way says; This gift is so valuable it must be risked. Those who follow the second way understand that if the gift is not brought of the box, it will never be used at all. To leave the gift in the box is to thwart the desire of the giver. There’s no tragedy like the tragedy of the unopened gift. You too have been given a gift. Do a ruthless self assessment—- Along with the gift you have been given a choice— whether or not you will open and use what was given to you. Is your life following the first way or second?
