**The Restaurant Table Dilemma** 🍽️ Making choices at a restaurant isn't just about what's on the menu. It's about how those choices are presented. Imagine you're torn between a $15 pasta and a $30 steak. Then, the waiter mentions a $50 seafood platter. Suddenly, the steak seems like a bargain! This simple scenario illustrates how our decisions are influenced by the context around us. As Daniel Kahneman brilliantly explores in "Thinking, Fast and Slow," our minds are fascinatingly susceptible to these influences. #BehavioralEconomics #DecisionMaking #ValuePerception

LNB03: Can you afford to compromise quality when you have only one product? A mo:mo restaurant, reasonably famous for its momo charged Rs.180/- per plate of chicken momo. The momo turned out dry, with really thick outer layer. The only thing going for the momo was 4 varieties of "Achar" offerred, none of which were too delicious to cover up for the mo:mo's taste. Left disappointed, I tried at another restaurant nearby. It charged Rs. 170/- per plate with one type of "achar", with an ambient environment and good plating. This restaurant had many offerings in its menu, not only mo:mo. Can you afford to compromise on quality? To generate value to the customers, you must focus on functional & symbolic benefit. In this case, the mo:mo should taste like mo:mo. For the cost sacrificed (financial, emotional), the first restaurant was not able to generate value. Thereby losing customer. What does this lead to? When you have only one offering, make sure it is at par or better than what others in the same category, else you lose sales and market share. #value

One of our tips for simplicity from our Compass newsletter this month is to "stick to what you're good at." Have you ever been to a restaurant that had Italian and Chinese and Indian food on the menu? Was it as amazing as a restaurant that had one authentic cuisine made by people from that country? Of course not! Lots of companies try to cover so many products that they end up being mediocre, instead of perfecting their skill in one area. Once you've perfected and streamlined that area, you could have the capacity to branch out successfully, with new concentrated excellence. Just make sure to keep the balance and not spread yourself too thin! That's what simplifying is all about! #jambojon #simplicity #simplifyyourbusiness #webdevelopers
