Kids cause havoc with our musical taste algorithms....FACT! As a lifelong lover of #music who grew up with cassette tapes and later CDs, Spotify was a revelation that was able to get me closer to the music that I loved in an instance and curate personalised #playlists that flowed beautifully and allowed me to find #artists and #bands that aligned to my musical tastes 🤘 This would however all be unravelled once my #daughter was born and we used to power of music to soothe her. It was affected even worse however when she started to talk and learnt how to play the music she wanted using my Spotify account, since kids can't have their own profile for obvious reasons which I agree with. Naturally, this would mean having a #Metallica song followed by "Roar" by Katy Perry 🤣 which is less than ideal. As a #father, this inconvenience is all part of the job, and as an information #security professional I agree with kids not having their own account or profile, but as a music lover this sucks. Now this post is not just a rant on my part but an opportunity to share a feature I only recently discovered which has the potential to reduce the aforementioned inconvenience. That is, using the "Exclude from my taste profile" option for playlists that are designated for bedtime for example. This will avoid "Moonlight Sonata" from popping in while you're trying to get your work-groove on with some classic #heavymetal. Also, if you are looking for a modern take on a bed-time playlist, check out one that my wife and I lovingly curated - https://lnkd.in/dscbVEdj

Never underestimate the power of a "hype" playlist! I have always known that music truly makes me feel "all the feels," and certain songs, artists or genres bring me into the moment. Right before my last two (Zoom) interviews, I played songs that felt empowering, made me move, and overall increased my positive vibes. Hopefully, my interviewer(s) not only understood my value to their team but also the energy I'd bring to the company and the role. #hypeplaylist #ivegotthis #positivejujuplease Do you all have a "hype" playlist? What's on it? Are you curious about what's on mine? https://lnkd.in/eqFJ2fmC

For us, music is more than just background noise—it’s a creative lifeline that fuels our projects. We're always dropping playlists and albums in our Slack channels, hunting for the perfect sounds that fuel our days, and we've even woven a playlist into our portfolio deck, so you can jam as you browse. So, we thought, why keep them to ourselves? This month, we're spotlighting a playlist called "WFH 🛸" curated by Maria, our Creative Director. It’s a deep dive into the frequencies and wavelengths that help you dial in your work from home grind (or work anywhere grind!) As Maria puts it, "These are magic drone vibes. No lyrics allowed! Get that sh*t done!" Expect to hear some of her top picks, including Nala Sinephro, Tim Hill, Panda Bear, Levek, and more! We hope you enjoy! 🎵🎧️ What should our next playlist theme be? Sound and mics 😫😥 Did anyone see SZA's performance at #Glastonbury on Sunday night? I've been reading a lot about the start of the set, where there were issues with distortion, volume and clarity. I have 2 thoughts on this: 1. Glastonbury is (maybe) the biggest outdoor music event in the world so you need to get it right and you don't get 2nd chances. 😢 2. It's also one of the hardest to create consistent sound, with a huge amount of pressure, unpredictable weather, different singers and everyone bringing their own equipment (melt). 😫 What it did for me though was remind me how much good quality sound will affect someone's enjoyment of an event, meeting or conference. Someone said to me after a recent gig: 'Don't take this the wrong way...but I wasn't thinking about you!' 😂 Think of it like a referee at a football match, the last thing you want is being talked about 😳 Good planning, testing and most importantly of all - communicating with people when things aren't perfect, will give you a great chance of doing a good job and...maybe getting re-hired for next time! 😅 #events #eventprofs #audiovisual

SUMMERTIME—IT’S CHILLIN’ IT’S GRILLIN’ TIME Since in the northern hemisphere, it’s now summer, I decided to do a music video about all the happy and carefree times that summer represents. I started making images in Midjourney, but I quickly knew I’d have to get the music and lyrics first to create images synchronizing with the lyrics. So I turned once again to Udio. The music genre I think of as indicative of happy and carefree is 50’s Doo Wop! Now that may be because I’m old enough to remember Doo Wop music before it was a “Golden Oldy” or it might have something to do with that the diner we frequent plays nothing but 50’s songs over their sound system. Either way, I asked for the following from Udio: “Upbeat 50’s Doo Wop song called “Summertime it’s chillin’ time and grillin’ time.” Use words like swimmin’, fishin’, campin’, hikin’, lovin’ and dancin’. Then I continued making images in Midjourney. I was planning just to use still images, but then last week Luma Dream Machine became available and I knew I had to put it through its paces. Each MJ image was used as the inspiration image for each scene. As you’ll see much like Midjourney 4, there are some odd artifacts such as people walking and disappearing, or moving arms fading in and out, but like our response to MJ4, the results are pretty exciting—especially given it just came out. Here are a couple of tricks I used to minimize the artifacts from scene to scene: some scenes were run 3 or 4 times to pick out the best version; each scene was rendered longer than needed so I could clip off anything I didn’t want in the front or back end; and also some scenes I thought of were so disfigured, or someone changed into someone else, or they suddenly appeared or disappeared in the scene so I scrapped the scene and designed a different one. The final edit was done in CapCut. I had fun doing it and seeing how far I could push Luma. It promises to be a very promising tool, I would suspect, in the not-too-distant future! #midjourney #udio #luma #dreammachine #capcut #musicvideo #doowop #summertime

This was Top 5 virtual events for three reasons... Our Prince celebration during the Weekly Uplift last Monday was next level. Here's why... 1. Engagement was constant - Curtis painted Prince in real time and they were waiting to hear their favorite songs. 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴. 2. We pushed boundaries - two multi-camera green screen setups in different locations, DJing music videos + live concert footage, audience interaction. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺. 3. The main thing stayed the main thing - this was a Prince celebration and I left feeling we did him and his legacy justice. (And I'm usually my worst critic.) 𝗪𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹. I can't wait to collaborate with Curtis Wallace and his team again. Check out this behind the scenes reel they created! PS: Do you want a Spotify playlist of the Prince records we rocked? #djgraffiti #music #corporateevents
