Are help/ support sections a sign of bad UX? This article argues that at least FAQs are pointless and a sign that the organisation is not trying hard enough. I personally don’t like the way FAQs are structuring information, because it is difficult for a user to scan and find an answer to a question they may have formulated differently with their mental models. At most, FAQs might be used on a support or product description page to include additional information that is not worth categorising further, if you have just a few of these… As a best practice, I encourage as much as possible contextual support in the UI, so that users find the right info in their journey and don’t need to open a separate manual or help page to get the info they need. But there are always cases where the user needs a bit more deep dive into a topic, for instance if they are new to the product or in general to the type of service they’re using. In that case, first try to understand user goals, so you can structure the information easiest: there’s one way you should structure info for users on their purchase journey (features/ benefits/ price) and a different way you should structure info on a learning journey (how to, definition of concepts, education in the field etc…). https://lnkd.in/dcGfQ2jN

One of my go-to design approach 🔹Start with content, not the design tool Here’s the thing: it’s always better to start a project by writing the content first instead of jumping straight into a design tool. Trust me, having the content ready before you start designing makes all the difference! Why? 🔹Get the draft content ready early: Work with your clients or team to draft the text for all the pages. Yes, it might take a while—especially if it’s a content-heavy project—but it’ll save you a ton of time in the long run. Because content is what matters most: People are there for the content; design is just the dressing. 🔹What happens when you don’t? Picture this: You chat with your clients and get a rough idea. You dive into wireframing and designing, filling in the gaps with placeholder or AI-generated content. Then, the actual content comes in, and… oops! It doesn’t match the brand or your design. Now, you have to tweak your design to fit the new content. And let’s be real—redesigning takes way more time and effort than just adjusting content. #uxstategy #uxdesign
