Amazon S3 has increased the default bucket limit from 100 to 10,000 per account. Additionally, users can now request a quota increase of up to 1 million buckets per account. The first 2,000 buckets are free, but a small fee applies for buckets beyond this limit. This change allows developers using AWS to manage storage more efficiently. #AWS #Technology

Amazon Web Services (AWS) should implement a system that regularly notifies users about unused resources, especially those in unlikely-used regions. It's easy to lose track of resources when exploring different services there. For instance, while playing and learning SageMaker, we forgot to delete domains, notebooks, and what other resources they had there, resulting in costs exceeding $80. Maybe they already have a system for this that I'm unaware of, IDK. But a clear, regular notification system would definitely help prevent these kinds of surprises.

Black Friday today... I hope You've both something interesting (I found some tools + Games on Steam Autumn Sale). For all Solutions Architects in AWS comes a very special part of a year - re:invent week. We really don't know what is going to be revealed as Service Teams for the last couple of months were working hard no to spill out too much so they can launch new features or services. We will know in fact on 3rd of December after Matt Garman Keynote (first time in CEO role) what's new is cracking in AWS. My Xmas gift would be: 1. Lower or drop the price for egress data transfer (small one if cross-AZ traffic pricing would be dropped) - Did you know these prices vary from region to region? 2. I'd really wish Santa could bring iSCSI or NVMe/TCP support for FSx for OpenZFS 3. EBS deduplication and compression would be also high on my list. 4. Cognito - Cognito if it could support offline access tokens would be marvelous. 5. For S3 dear Santa can we get a product side with a nice mobile/windows/linux client? (I know I can build it myself with only S3 static hosting, Cognito, API Gateway and few Lambdas) but hey a product would be nice. There are probably like 1000s other features/services I could list but reflecting back at 2024 that would be my top 5. AWS is not keeping up on Bedrock GenAI on-demand models usage? 🤔 I noticed that AWS drastically scaled down Amazon Bedrock model quotas on new and some of the existing AWS Accounts below the minimum what's documented According to AWS documentation, Claude 3.5 Sonnet should be available with at least 20 requests/min & 200,000 tokens/min in any supported region You can't check currently assigned quotas per model in the AWS Console for Amazon Bedrock... but you can do it from the API/CLI It turns out that freshly created AWS Account quotas for Claude 3.5 Sonnet are set to just 1 request/min and 4,000 tokens/min 🤯 (I heard about the cases where it’s set to 0) It cause any serious operations in Bedrock to fail due to these low limits... Can you easily change it from AWS Quotas console? Nope. You need to contact AWS Support 🤦 And you guessed it.. it takes ages (and you need to pay for this support too) Dear AWS, you need to fix it

Amazon S3 now supports conditional requests. You can use conditional requests to add preconditions to your S3 operations. If the precondition is not met, the S3 operation will fail. Conditional requests are free of charge; you are charged the existing rates for the applicable requests, including failed ones.
