I am afraid to write this. I know that some of the people who care deeply about trafficking are also people who will be casting votes for Trump. I am afraid for Treasures to lose their support. But fear is part of the problem. It is what keeps victims silent. I didn’t leave my pimp and build Treasures to stay silent. The epidemic of s-xual violence should matter regardless of political affiliation. Victims deserve justice, no matter who their perpetrators are. Recently, survivors bravely came forward under the New York Adult Survivors Act (ASA), a one-time law that provided a one-year window for survivors to pursue litigation against their perpetrators, regardless of how long ago the assault occurred. Powerful men like Diddy, Bill Cosby, and Donald Trump are finally facing justice. The world looks on in shock and horror as the recent details of allegations against Diddy unfold. For the women of Treasures, what is shocking is not what he did, but that he is facing justice. Because the sad truth is, most of us never see legal justice. Because what he did is what we see every day in the lives of women we serve. ASA is a step in the right direction, but it is not enough. Survivors need time. Time to heal, to process, to be ready. And we need support. When survivors bravely come forward, they face the fear of retaliation, the unaffordable cost of litigating, drawn-out legal proceedings where they have to relive their trauma, and the character assassination and complete degradation they will face throughout the process. That’s why at Treasures, we provide resources, mentoring, and legal support through our partnerships. Because no one should face this fight alone. To learn more about a special support group we are hosting as well as the specific tactics perpetrators use to bully victims into silence, see the link in our bio. -Harmony Watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/gf5qMvqA Or read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/gaKEsqaP #believesurvivors #DARVO #treasures #treasuresla #breakingthesilence #breakthesilence #harmonydust #justice #TimesUp #MeToo #BillCosby #diddy #trump #AdultSurvivorsAct

Today is Day 3 of 16 Days of Activism. Misidentification is a post separation tactic of the perpetrator of coercive control. The harm of the systems’ abuse and enablers of the perpetrator far outweigh the damage done during the abusive relationship. When we escape the abuse the one bully we’ve been dealing with multiplies as does the level of harm. Currently there are no appropriate or adequate measures to properly identify the person using violence and the person in need of protection. Police most often also get this very, very wrong. Women are dying at unprecedented rates often due to misidentification. Pre-meditated misidentification is also the core business of family lawyers, whose behaviour is profit driven and unethical. There are no checks and balances so few consequences for the purposeful misidentification by lawyers and family report writers who ignore evidence to help them to win their case. Call for Justice "Justice is not a favor; it's a right that every survivor deserves." Our final survivor story calls for #Justice—justice for those whose lives were forever impacted by GBV, and justice for the countless others who are still fighting for their voices to be heard. The journey toward justice is often long and challenging, but every step we take toward accountability brings us closer to creating a safer society for all. In today’s survivor story, this survivor speaks about the importance of seeking justice, not only for themselves but for the many others who suffer in silence. They highlight how speaking out and holding perpetrators accountable can break the cycle of violence and prevent future harm. 💬 Survivor Insight: "My voice was the key to finding justice. It wasn’t easy, but speaking up helped me heal and gave me hope for others who are still suffering." What You Can Do: - Demand Justice: Support legal actions and advocate for fair and timely justice for survivors of GBV. - Raise Awareness: Share stories of justice to encourage others to come forward. - Be an Ally: Stand by survivors as they seek justice, offering emotional, legal, and practical support. Together, we can hold perpetrators accountable and ensure that survivors receive the justice they deserve. Speak out. Stand up. #16DaysOfActivism #EndGBV #JusticeForSurvivors #SpeakUp #Accountability #BreakTheSilence
