I celebrated my birthday at my favorite restaurant with my family members, feeling truly valued. Delicious food, warm atmosphere, and exceptional service made the yesterday evening wonderful. Last Saturday, I had dinner with a few friends. My friend's father was there. He's about to turn 77 years old. Over steak and some California wine, I asked him: "Tomorrow, you'll celebrate your 77th birthday. What's the most important life lesson you've learned?" (I'm not good at small talk.) He took a long pause. Then, his answer surprised me. I was expecting something about the importance of relationships, resilience, or finding your passion. Here's what he said: "Know your priorities and act accordingly." Most of us live in the daily fog of short-term battles.
