For those who know me, you’ll understand that I'm not one to indulge in touchy-feely sentiments. I align more with the ethos of hard work and self-reliance than with lofty dreams. However, two books I recently read have significantly shifted my perspective: "Traction" by Gino Wickman and "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. From "Traction," I learned the importance of setting a Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG), a concept popularized by Jim Collins. A few years ago, we set a BHAG to open four offices in Idaho within ten years for our home care business. Astonishingly, we are on track to achieve this milestone by the end of our third year. What’s interesting is that this goal was never part of our quarterly, annual, or 3-year targets. We simply declared it as our 10-year dream and moved forward. Reflecting on "The Alchemist," several quotes have stayed with me: 1. "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." 2. "It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting." 3. "The secret of life is to fall seven times and get up eight times." These quotes resonate deeply with our journey. Despite our shorter-term goals not directly pointing to our 10-year vision, it felt like the universe aligned to help us achieve it. Having both long-term dreams and short-term goals has made my entrepreneurial journey more engaging, especially in the business where we've applied "Traction" principles most effectively. The third quote is particularly relevant as we've faced setbacks along the way. EOS has taught us how to manage these setbacks, ensuring they don't become long-term issues. Our weekly reviews and problem-solving sessions keep us on course. Integrating the insights from EOS and "The Alchemist" has underscored the power of setting and regularly revisiting visionary "dreams". I’ve recently begun reading "Shine" by Gino Wickman, aiming to apply these principles to achieve a more balanced personal life. #Quotes #Inspiration #TheAlchemist #PauloCoelho #Dreams #Motivation #Resilience #FollowYourHeart #Fearless #LifeLessons #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #GoalSetting #BusinessSuccess #Mindset

The self-restoration process, if done with an open heart and open mind, will alter your reality. The way you see yourself, others, and the world will be different. In this process of discovering and exploring, you will see new things and see old things in new ways. I faced a new reality as I wrote this chapter about new realities for Take It All Apart, in fact. As I reflected on my experiences from 2022/2023, I realized that I continued to operate from two key limiting beliefs: 1. If things aren’t painful and difficult, then I’m not doing enough. 2. Listening to my heart and following my intuition will lead me down the wrong path. I discovered these limiting beliefs and figured out their untruths by going through re-connecting with myself and implementing restorative processes and exercises that have become foundational to our work at The Restoration Process. I know my beliefs held me back and some days continue to hold me back. I also know that these statements are not true and not serving me, yet my thoughts and behavior are rooted deeply in them. In the days and weeks ahead, I will share my personal story as support as we walk through the process of transitioning to a new year and (if you’re ready to journey into the process of self-restoration) a new reality, away from and out of the pattern of limiting beliefs that can hold you back in your life’s impact.

Your mind may dwell on the past, while your dreams pull you towards a brighter future, with your freedom of choice lying in the middle. Here's what I've learned: Your heart shapes your perspective. While many suggest changing your thoughts, I propose shifting your heart's perception of yourself, others, and the world. When your heart transforms, your thoughts will naturally align. Embrace uncalculated risks. While some advocate for calculated risks, I believe that true risks means stepping into the unknown with self-belief, clear intentions, and the confidence that you'll navigate any outcome. Learn from every experience. Behind every perceived misstep lies a valuable lesson. Perhaps what seemed like a misstep was a necessary part of your journey all along.
