This has to stop! Europe is actually innovating a lot: NVIDIA is noting without ASML. Revolut just became one of the biggest digital banks in the world. Spotify transformed how people consume music, making streaming mainstream worldwide. Airbus always reaches its destination but you never know when the next Boeing will fall. DeepMind (now part of Google) was founded in the UK, focusing on artificial intelligence, and has made groundbreaking advancements in AI. More ambition, less bureaucracy, and Europe will soon accelerate 🇪🇺🚀 P.S. check out 🔔linas.substack.com🔔, it's the only newsletter you need for all things when Finance meets Technology. Less bureaucracy in Europe is like asking for a miracle. Not going to happen, haven’t you seen how they actually celebrate and congratulate each other over every new bit of bureaucracy they can add to our lives? They take pride in it! It’s a disease and it looks like the patient is not getting out of hospital any time soon.
Linas Beliūnas NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Intel, NXP,… will substitute ASML the moment they can, it’s just that developing the photolithography machines hasn’t been the core focus for these companies so far because it’s far less profitable and scalable compared to chip design and chip manufacturing;) But nice try😆
We are just bad at marketing. But I still think that the bottle design is good. If you do recycling right, you save a lot costs on procurement of resources. Europe is also good at battery recycling for example. Germany and robotics? Look at Neura Robotics AI? -> Aleph Alpha, Mistral, DeepL etc. I think we really need to go out of a depression mode and be more optimistic and promote ourselves better.
hm. is it massively successful marketing of mere fluffware? 🧛♂️ or commercialization of globally sourced imported brain power? both?
Linas Beliūnas I want to see more innovation worldwide. I remember my younger days how things like German engineering were highly sought. Built to last. I hope AI adoption globally enables rapid innovation for so many more companies and yes, the countries need to get out of the way. Get it done. 🚀 🚀 🚀
Great post. Europe is so focused on more Taxes Government control Technology regulations And remains far behind in the AI/Tech space sadly
And dont forget, GDP per capita PPP is virtually the same!!!!
Also tired of all the EU detractors. Look where all the innovation brought the US to; Trump as a president and the (now) most dangerous (as well as richest) man in the world in a governmental position.
in Denmark they have something cool going on. For every new rule or process in parliament, 3 old ones has to go. You have to start somewhere and yes less bureaucracy (would love to call it bureaucrazy) highly welcome.
Lego? Maersk? Novo? Jysk? IKEA? H&M? MSC ? Nestle? ABB? Novartis? SAP? Zalando? Zara? LVMH ? ASML? Shell? Europe has many big companies - even from small countries such as Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden... But yes, the regulations in the EU zone makes it hard for small companies to grow big - and sometimes to even get off the ground.
