It's a good day to unveil the final, yet crucial, pillar of the STARTup terminal’s value proposition: "𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴“ is the 6th cornerstone to become the partner of choice for startups and scaleups in the LogTech field. We believe in the power of doing good work and talking about it. This gives our selected startup solutions an explicit platform to demonstrate the use cases where and how they digitize or automate DB Schenker products and services. On this channel we share our most valued success stories of corporate startup collaborations - can't wait to connect, inspire, and progress together. #hungryforinnovation Ronja Stoffregen, Sebastian Schuhmann, Arthur Gottfried, Wilhelmine Schlosser, Lisa Han, Niklas Weishaupt, Sina Bergmann, Jakob Borchard, Laurenz Klein, Erik Wirsing, Patric Hoffmann

TLDR: Frisco's innovators have defined what makes the region unique and developed challenge statements to drive innovation. Come meet these visionaries and be part of our innovation journey. Frisco, TX is known as Sports City USA, but what does that really mean for innovation? Recently, we gathered a group of highly engaged stakeholders from across Frisco's innovation economy at the PGA of America HQ to explore this question and more. In partnership with Stadia Ventures and the Frisco Economic Development Corporation, we set out to understand how innovation flows through the region and where it faces obstacles. Our approach prioritizes human connection over equity transactions (though we love those too!). We brought together top-level stakeholders to discuss problem statements in an open, safe environment. From these discussions and thousands of data points, we determined Frisco's "Locus of Relevancy" - what makes the region unique and how specific technologies and business models can accelerate their development here better than anywhere else in the world. The outcome? We've defined shared challenge statements that our stakeholders can rally around - challenges that resonate with everyone. At the end of October (date coming soon), we're inviting the global innovation community to present their tech solutions. For each challenge, we're seeking a mix of researchers, startups with emerging tech, and organizations working with mature technologies. Curious about the challenges? Check out the link in the post below or keep an eye on my future posts where we'll talk more in depth about each one and what's next. If these align with your work, apply via the link or drop me a DM with any questions.
Frisco is at the forefront of innovation, and we're excited to announce the upcoming Collision Day with our friends at the Frisco Economic Development Corporation this October!! This event is a unique opportunity for researchers, startups, and enterprises to showcase their cutting-edge technologies and solutions across multiple challenge statements. Join us to engage with top investors, civic leaders, and industry experts across North Texas. Whether you're pioneering new research or deploying mature technologies, Collision Day is your platform to shine. Apply now to be part of this transformative event and help shape the future of innovation in Frisco! A brilliant addition to the growing startup community in the heart of Sheffield. This is not Silicon Valley - nor should it aspire to be. There’s clear scope here for a hard and deep tech development with links to manufacturing/advanced manufacturing. The Fusion story this week makes it clear that a core part of the UK Atomic Energy Authority team moved from Culham to AMID to be close to Keith Ridgway and Andrew Storer who they recognised as the best people in the UK to unravel the next fusion mystery: how to build a reactor with so many manufacturing challenges. This could and should be a big part of the AMID/Spine nexus. The missing ingredient for me in this picture is the lack of an intelligent and experienced VC wrap around, as developed organically alongside emerging tech in suburban (not dense urban) California in the early years of Silicon Valley’s rise. Here The Bessemer Society and niche organisations like it ( there aren’t many to be honest) offer a pathway to establishing those VC knowledge based connections in a way that Northern Gritstone and other more localised efforts cannot hope to achieve. Manchester is experiencing the same challenge and is rightly looking to Cambridge and London for the answer. Well done Tom Wolfenden and Sheffield Technology Parks for reviving Leah’s yard and finding a future from its vibrant engineering and entrepreneurial past.
Welcome to the family, Ferrio! We're thrilled to announce that the innovative automation startup, originally nurtured at Sheffield Technology Parks has chosen Leah's Yard as their new home! Alex Humphreys, co-founder of Ferrio, reflects on the transition: "Ferrio recently entered an exciting new phase and our move to Leah’s Yard feels like the perfect marker. Now we’re established we’re able to make way for other startups as we head into our own dedicated space. The heritage of Leah’s Yard makes it the ideal place to put our Sheffield identity at the fore.” Tom Wolfenden Director of Leahs and also CEO of Sheffield Tech Parks said “watching Alex and Dan navigate the early years of a tech startup through to the established firm they now lead has been inspiring. Often when people leave STP I lose touch with them, but I’m pleased that I’ll still be able to check in with Ferrio over the coming years at Leah’s Yard’ We can't wait to see all the amazing things Ferrio will accomplish here!
