How Important is to have an in-house Creative Department?
“Ad Agencies are a pain in the ass”
Said by every Marketing Professional ever.
This is because of the gap in understanding the creative expectations at the Agency’s end , which increases the TAT massivelly.
Ad agencies have single resources working on multiple brands which also increases the TAT.
Now, hiring Creatives in-house could be difficult because the DNA of an Ad Agency is very different from that of a corporate firm. The Creative Department is the core department in ad agencies and (let’s be honest) most of the corporates think Creative Department is just a bunch of kids having fun by making Reels. That’s why good Creative Professionals hesitate to join the corporates.
The solution is simple, hire creatives in-house for only Always On Content like designing, Digital posts, PNs etc that requires immediate TAT, and for Brand Tonality and Brand Positioning reach out to Experienced Creative Professionals.

This is so true, while working with MissMalini Entertainment on the Outbound Branded Content side, I have worked with several brands as a Creative Professional for over 5 years, not only delivered what they want, but sustained and helped them scale up content quality consistently.
However when worked as an In-house creative - Corporate expectations to churn out on daily basis like a machine and delivering fast without reasonable TAT and even pressure numbers & conversions right from day 1.
Corporates expect not creatives but magicians who will magically get the numbers up with immediate viral videos. I was consistently asked questions like - when will our video go viral?
- Can you promise us tentative numbers against each video? (this was when we were just starting to build a channel - wasn't even 2 months)
- That XYZ brand is doing this, why aint we doing this? (Extremely reactive to FOMO, not trusting the creative strategy that was build)
- Scrutinizing, Micromanaging, viewing the entire Creative Strategy with an extreme corporate lens. (Not trusting leaders and their expertise)
Request to corporates - hire creative professionals for their creative abilities and do not view them with a lens of finance, data, sales or growth professional etc etc!
Building Daftar Creative Room. A Brand Tone Specialist. A creative Analyst and a full time writer.
