Job rejections can sting, but perspective is critical. We've all been there: receiving the dreaded "thank you for your interest, but..." email. It's natural to feel discouraged, and I certainly did when I faced that myself. However, I took a few weeks to reset and reframe my perspective. Interestingly, when I found out who got the job, it offered some valuable insights. The successful candidate was intelligent and eager but also early in her career. I realized the decision likely didn't reflect my abilities or worth. I discovered they offered her a salary significantly below the average for the role. While this saved the organization money in the short term, it also came with its costs. The hiring manager would need to invest time, resources, and personal effort to bring her up to speed, creating a learning curve for both the new hire and the organization. **The takeaway?** Rejections can be brutal, but remember, they often have more to do with the specific needs and circumstances of the role than your capabilities. 🔍Reflect 🧭Reframe 🗣️Tell yourself a better story Take the time to reframe your perspective, learn from the experience, and keep moving forward! Recommendation for inspiration: The movie “A Million Miles Away” is the story of Jose Hernandez, the first migrant farmworker to travel to space.
