Researchers have developed a #CRISPRCas9 system to target tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), offering new avenues for cancer immunotherapies. The study used bacterial protoplast-derived nanovesicles, loaded with a Cas9-sgRNA targeting a key macrophage polarization switch, and bacterial DNA fragments acting as potent ligands. The approach aims to reshape TAMs into an anti-tumor phenotype and inhibit tumor growth. It has shown potential for scalable clinical production and promising applications in #cancer #immunotherapy, addressing challenges related to cell viability and in vivo delivery.
