ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR THE BORMIO RING ROAD 🌲🚗 In the recent project for the Bormio Ring Road, we were tasked with drafting detailed responses to environmental clarifications requested by the Lombardy Region. Our work included evaluating impacts on noise 🔊, landscape 🌆, soil consumption 🌱, and agronomic systems 🚜. We also updated the EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) and conducted a detailed assessment of project alternatives, in addition to drafting an Environmental Monitoring Plan for the various project phases. The process concluded with the approval of the Regional Unified Authorization Decree (PAUR) under Article 27-bis of Legislative Decree 152/2006. ✅ #environment

Farmers for Climate Action recent research shows Cyclic Injection Leads to Larger and More Frequent Induced Earthquakes under Volume‐Controlled Conditions (Seismological Research Letters (2024) https://lnkd.in/gjfJgNQp ) which summarises As carbon storage technologies advance globally, methods to understand and mitigate induced earthquakes become increasingly important. Although the physical processes that relate increased subsurface pore pressure changes to induced earthquakes have long been known, reliable methods to forecast and control induced seismic sequences remain elusive. Suggested reservoir engineering scenarios for mitigating induced earthquakes typically involve modulation of the injection rate. #Queensland #policymakers closed down UQSS #earthquake #monitoring in 1998.
🚫 With an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) decision on the proposed #CarbonCaptureAndStorage (CCS) project in the #GreatArtesianBasin (GAB) expected to be handed down in early May, community, environmental groups and industry remain united in calling on the Queensland Government to reject the proposal. Listen to QFF CEO Jo Sheppard GAICD, Local Government Association of Queensland CEO Alison Smith and Queensland Conservation Council Director Dave Copeman discuss why the GAB must remain off limits to CCS below. The QFF e-petition sponsored by Robbie Katter MP opposing the carbon capture and storage (CCS) proposal and any future CCS proposals in the Great Artesian Basin has already received more than 11,000 signatures. Following up to his widely popular presentation at the SMART Remediation conference in #Toronto (and a similar presentation by Jennifer O'Grady at the #Ottawa event), on March 14 Terrapex's Paul H. Cheung will be presenting at the ESAA SMART Remediation Webinar on the environmental fate and transport and current regulatory landscape of the emerging contaminant 6PPD-q. 6PPD-q is the quinone of 6p-phenylenediamine (6PPD), a common rubber antiozonant, and has been determined to have significant toxicity to certain fish species at the parts per trillion level (yes, trillion!). Despite widespread use of 6PPD since the 1960s, the transformation of 6PPD to 6PPD-q was not actually recognized until 2020! Don't miss this presentation; tickets are still available! https://lnkd.in/g-taRymr SMART Remediation Environmental Services Association of Alberta #environmentalscience #expertise #emergingcontaminants

Shina Ansari, Head of Iran’s Department of #Environment, held her first presser in #Tehran Speaking to reporters, she said a link must be established between the economy and the environment. Additionally, until we have an economic perspective, we cannot have principled environmental management, for example in waste management. She also said: “We are trying to increase the environmental share of the public budget in next year's budget session while promoting environmental protection and monitoring and utilizing people's participatory capacities.” @H2NewsIran #H2 #H2newsagency #Iran #Mediaservices #Shina_Ansari #News

Can someone from the Centre for Environment and Conservation Authority (CEPA) confirm if Papua New Guinea has guidelines, including upper and lower limits, for measuring the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) in ash and waste management practices? If yes, is the guideline available online and accessible to the public? If no, what is the closest reference guideline available that can fit the purpose for Papua New Guinea, and can be accepted by CEPA?
