Congratulations to the Boston Celtics! Yes, I am a Boston fan. In a sport that usually rewards and worships the individual superstar, the Celtics took the TEAM approach—an approach that is not fancy or flashy. Brad Stevens, who coached the team for 7 years, decided that he's not "the guy" and moved to Head of Basketball Operations. Then Joe Mazzulla became the head coach. I have now had a day to process the outcome, and here are three observations that I took away from the Celtics organization: 1. TEAM over Tatum philosophy 2. Brad Stevens provided Mazzula the resources, personnel, and support to get the job done and TRUSTED him to coach the team. 3. Boston’s leadership team understood that in order for an organization to be built for long-term success then it would take TIME. The Celtics may not have a "superstar" or be a flashy team in today's NBA, but it truly is refreshing to see a team that believes in TRUST and Teamwork. Joe Mazzula has the backing from his leadership team who understand that their decisions may take time to see the results. But the wait is worth it. #trust #trustprocess #team #teamwork #leadership

Dan Hurley's back-to-back national championships with the UCONN Huskies isn't just about basketball - it's a masterclass in leadership and accountability. He says, "We spend a lot of time really focusing on the parents. Are they going to be fans of their son or are they going to be parents?" This approach - expecting a support system that inspires resilience, hard work, and accountability - is a game-changer, not just on the court but in any team environment. Where accountability leads, success follows. #Leadership #Accountability #UCONNHuskies

🏀Hey Fellas, I am no expert when it comes to basketball! 🎯But I do know about leadership 🎯And, about building high-performance teams. After his second NBA season, I met LeBron. We chatted in the Green Room at a NYC youth event. He made the trip with several former high school championship teammates. Since those early years, James has been to the NBA Conference Finals 12 times. He's won a championship with three separate teams. 🏆Here's LeBron's champion-team-building strategy: 🗝️Step 1: Look everywhere for talent. If someone has a skill you like, go after them. 🗝️Step 2: Find the natural talent of a person. What task/role can they do with ease/very naturally? 🗝️Step 3: Use their skills/natural talent where best suited. 🗝️Step 4: Remove the obstacles. Being in the leadership role of your team, you are responsible for shielding them against all the corporate BS. ✳️Which of these strategies do you find most impactful as a midlife Black man in leadership? See you at the top! Coach Wayne #leadershipdevelopment #Blackmaleleaders #leadershipskills #leadershipatmidlife
