Why I’m returning to Berlin for the 5th time this year (What makes Berlin the top choice for events?) Next month I’ll be back in Berlin to attend my fifth event in this city. I’m curious to know what keeps Berlin at the top for business events? Here’s what Marco Oelschlegel, CMP, Director of Conventions at visitBerlin – Berlin Convention Office, shared about the city’s unique appeal. Large venues for events: Estrel Berlin, Messe Berlin are some of the largest venues in Germany. Historic sites: Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, and more landmarks that people want to visit alongside their conference. Cosmopolitan vibe: A rich blend of art, culture, nightlife and nature. Constantly evolving: New spaces, like the Humboldt Forum, keep it fresh, even if you’ve been to Berlin many times! Sustainability focus: Berlin Convention Bureau’s legacy-centered green program highlights the positive impact conferences can have on society and social issues. What’s your favourite thing about attending or hosting events in Berlin? Share below!

Impact and Effectiveness: What tangible outcomes and results has the project achieved? How has it made a difference for its target audience? 3. Execution and Delivery: The quality of implementation, including attention to detail, smooth execution, and overcoming challenges. 4. Audience Engagement: How well did the project engage and resonate with its intended audience? Was the audience interaction meaningful and impactful? 5. From Vision to a Vibrant Syokimau Community The Syokimau Trade Expo & Conference, now in its fourth edition, began as a spark of inspiration in 2015. Driven by a vision to unite neighbors, showcase local talent, and build a future-ready community, the Expo wasn’t always met with immediate enthusiasm. When I first proposed hosting this event in Syokimau, the response was cautious at best—there were questions, doubts, and hesitations over what this Expo could achieve for our community. Fortunately, I wasn’t alone in this vision. John Thiongó, the then Chairman of the Syokimau Residents Association, believed in the potential of this idea and gave it his full support even amidst the doubts how this event would work. With his endorsement, I was able to rally a team of inspired members from the Welfare & Publicity Committee, affectionately called Welplicity. Together, we set out to create not just an event, but a movement that would elevate Syokimau as a place of innovation, unity, and opportunity. Our inaugural Expo was made even more special by the presence of Dr. Manu Chandaria, Kenya’s celebrated philanthropist and founder of the Muthaiga Residents Association, who served as our first Chief Guest. Dr. Chandaria shared words that have become a guiding principle for the Syokimau Trade Expo: “The future of Syokimau is yours to shape. When neighbors unite, they create a culture and destiny built on sustainability—a community others will envy and look to for inspiration.” These words lit a fire among us, instilling a shared belief that, together, we could make Syokimau a shining example of community-driven progress. Since that memorable beginning, the Syokimau Trade Expo has grown beyond our initial expectations. Each year, exhibitors, local leaders, entrepreneurs, and residents come together to share ideas and connect in a space dedicated to the betterment of our community. This year’s Expo promises to be more vibrant than ever, featuring a diverse array of exhibitors offering solutions to enhance our daily lives and encourage sustainable growth. The Expo now stands as a symbol of what we can achieve when we work as one. From local startups showcasing new products to collaborative initiatives addressing community needs, the Expo has become a hub of innovation, connection, and inspiration. It’s a unique opportunity for Syokimau’s residents and partners to embrace new ideas, strengthen bonds, and chart a course for a brighter, greener future. Thanks to our founders, the legacy of Dr. Chandaria’s vision, and the continued efforts of Welplicity, the Syokimau Trade Expo & Conference has become more than an event; it’s a celebration of Syokimau’s spirit and a testament to what we can achieve when we believe in our community.

A distinctly sporting and antipodean feel about Issue #113 of Business Events World from The Iceberg with the usual high standard of dynamic content 🎾 Here are a few snippets (but read for yourself - you won't regret it!): 1. #IntellectualCapitalism looms large in Request for Proposals (RFPs) for scientific meetings, with a growing emphasis on relevant content, membership potential, and sponsorship in destination selection. 🙌 2. The evolving landscape (challenges!) of association membership underscores a shift towards purpose-driven priorities over profit, where climate offset targets hinge on impactful legacies and strategic planning. 🎯 3. The rise in case studies is a welcomed trend, offering vital insights into measuring impact—keep 'em coming! 🖋 BestCities Global Alliance 4. And lastly, but certainly by no means least...Anticipation mounts for IMEX in Frankfurt, especially with the Amsterdam-sponsored Association Focus, hosted by Martin Sirk of the #GlobalAssociationHubsPartnership—a highlight not to be missed! https://lnkd.in/e3bCPgUB

Guys, I have a plan to make Europe relevant again! It is easy-peasy-europeasy. Follow my 🔟 thoughts and take action if you agree. 1️⃣ Europe is one of the last regions in the world whose values can guide human civilization toward a sustainable future. 2️⃣ Europe is losing its relevance as a geopolitical force, ceding leadership to powers whose values I consider egocentric and short-sighted. 3️⃣ Germany is the motor of Europe. And let’s face it—no matter how luxurious a car’s leather seats may be(Luxembourg, Switzerland, Lichtenstein), without a functioning motor, it’s just furniture. Unfortunately, the European motor isn’t running as smoothly as it should. 4️⃣ Thanks to the so-called Mittelstand Modell, Germany isn’t just Berlin or München. Germany is Bruchsal. One hundred times. 5️⃣ So, what would make cities like Bruchsal prosperous? Prosperity comes from innovation, and innovation is born out of networks. 6️⃣ Bruchsal, like every other German city, has networks—but many of them no longer work. They connect the same people who’ve been in charge for decades, bound by a culture whose golden days are behind us. 7️⃣ Bruchsal needs new networks—networks with a fresh vibe and leadership, reaching people who’ve never been interconnected before. 8️⃣ This is the vision behind IT Meetup Bruchsal: creating a vibrant networking platform in a small city to foster innovation in the Kraichgau Region. If it works here, this concept can be replicated across dozens of small towns in Germany. If these new networks thrive, the European motor will start humming again. 9️⃣ A prosperous Bruchsal 2.0 means a prosperous Germany 2.0, which means a prosperous Europe 2.0—and ultimately, a sustainable future for human civilization. 🔟 All you have to do to help save the world is to attend IT Meetup Bruchsal. The next one is on 05.12.2025. Register here and change history: https://lnkd.in/eVtwucaU P.S Even if you disagree with me 10+ times, joining the next meetup is a good idea. Nils Hyoma and Jan Schneider are preparing a very cool interactive session on Risk Storming! It is the first time in Bruchsal! #itmeetupbruchsal #mitupbruchsal
