Squeezing in a few more conferences before I graduate - I was excited to attend and present at the American College of Surgeons single day meeting on surgeons 🩺 and engineers 🛠️in the context of surgical simulation. On the way to the conference from the airport, my Lyft driver asked “Surgeons and engineers? What do they have in common??” Great question, I’d love to tell you! Innovation! And a shared love for #medicalsimulation The partnership between the medical world and the engineering world is rapidly expanding, and necessary. Without physicians, engineers wouldn’t know what simulators or technologies are needed in the medical world. And without engineers, surgeons wouldn’t necessarily have all the tools they need to solve the problems they’re identifying within their working and training environments. This intersection between medicine, engineering, and human factors is my favorite innovative space, and the space where I hope to continue to build my career. My presentation focused on perceived utility by physicians of a prototype medical simulator at varying levels of fidelity. #engineering #humanfactors #medicalsimulation

Sounds like a sweet deal, right? But here's the twist: the long game. He's pondering holding onto the practice for another 10 years, making a cool $10 million in the process. Side-by-Side Comparison: It's fascinating when you stack the numbers. Maintaining ownership, restructuring, bringing in associates, cutting back hours – and voila! The practice consistently outperforms the allure of a big exit. Ownership Matters: Unless you keep a stake in the game, the promised benefits of a big exit may remain elusive. It's not like liquidating stocks in Walmart or Tesla. You can't wake up one day and decide to sell; it's a waiting game until they recapitalize. The moral of the story? Analyze your options.
