Well there it is!! In the words of the infamous Walt Disney Cartoons ' That's All Folks' ha!! After over 40 years and 3 months with the most fantastic Employers Lloyds Banking Group Lloyds Bank Lloyds Business & Commercial and the last 7 with the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (AMC) I shut down and log off my laptop for the last time as I leave the group that I've had such a brilliant time with on Early retirement today. I cannot thank Lloyds Banking Group enough for a wonderful career and a great life over that period. Since walking through the doors of Lloyds Bank Ltd , 19, The Parade, Minehead, Somerset TA24 5LU, sorting code 30-95-66 ( By the way it's still open now and trading as a bank albeit TSB branch after transferring via the Verde Project in 2012 !! ) as a spotty faced teenager at 10AM on 16TH July 1984, Lloyds Bank has given me a wonderful life and I will always be grateful. The thousands of people I have met along the way, colleagues , friends , family, clients, customers, professionals , Agents , everyone, I really thank you all for being part of my journey and story, which quite frankly has been an absolute Comedy Show ha!! I haven't got a clue how I got this far, I really don't as I'm as mad as a hatter ha!! But thank everyone who has taken the ride with me, given me my opportunities and chances and trusted in me. I love you all and will never, ever forget you. As all of you who have met me will know I am quite an unusual and unorthodox character and I make no apologies for that as my mantra has always been 'Laugh all the way' and I've bloomin well certainly tried to!! If I can offer just a few hints and tips on my advice to anyone now starting out and embarking on a long term career if it helps anyone then they would be: 1) Be true to yourself and don't try and be something or somebody that you're not 2) Be authentic and genuine in all that you do 3) Be kind and fair to all you come across 4) Try and speak to everyone you can. You learn so much from speaking to other people and you may be the only person that has taken the trouble to speak to them in days. 5) Smile and try and be humorous and positive with everyone you meet. You never know,it may be the only smile and humour they have seen for weeks and don't under estimate the effect that can have on people 6) Treat everyone with respect 7) Treat people the same no matter who they are They've certainly worked for me and if they can for anyone else, good on you!! Right I'm off to have a rest for a little while with a bit of travelling and catching up and I'll see where that takes me on my next journey.....you never know where I may turn up next ha ha! Thanks Lloyds Bank and everyone in my story and journey, I love you all and thanks for all you've given me over the last 40 years, I'll never forget you all.
Sometimes in life you come across people like you Lee that are a shining star and that provide an energy and positivity to others around you through your interactions. That is special and will forever make you a ‘legend’. You have been an inspirational leader to your team. On a personal level, thank you for the support over the last 14 months that we have worked together directly and for the fun along the way. Wishing you an awesome and well deserved retirement Mr B. I look forward to catching up at some cricket in the sunshine at some point.

Congratulations Lee - a fantastic career having such a positive impact on clients, colleagues and the bank. Such fond memories of our times working together including the infamous Regional Conference auctions (nobody was safe 😂) and our cheeky beer or 3 in Vilamoura (😎🍻). Thanks as ever for all your help and support over the years- Top Man. You deserve all the plaudits so do take the time for that well deserved rest before starting whatever comes next. Catch up soon
If ever there was the end on an era, this is it! All the best with whatever is next for you. Fortunately, you can still rely on your boyish good looks to get you through! Best wishes. Bradders.
Congratulations Mr Baker, I didn’t realise you were that old! Our paths never crossed from a work perspective… I somehow managed to ‘miss you’ as a councillor when I worked for Somerset Council (luckily!). You do have the honour of being the only referee to send me off in my football career. Anyway, I’m sure I’ll catch you at cricket at some point and you can practice batting now you’ve got all this time on your hands. Enjoy your retirement!
Wow Lee congratulations! Our paths crossed in the early nineties. I think it must of been Taunton meetings ? Your energy and enthusiasm to fly the flag for LBG has been fantastic, such loyalty and passion, that will be hard for anyone to replicate. Enjoy your retirement and take a bow 👏👏
The man who gave me the keys to a career in finance and a booking or two when we met at football - You are an absolute legend! So many amazing memories like the lunchtime Peter Utting trophy, the naked calendar, going on TV, and getting told that you do genuinely have 6 sugars in your tea 😂 I absolutely loved working with you. We had a blast! Thank you for you for everything you wizard and good luck in your next role mate! ❤️ I still think that teaching Joe Root how to play the late cut is your finest achievement! 👏🏻
Lee, you were a huge support to my small business over the years. I always looked forward to our meetings, which would quickly descend into laughter and cricket, and thankfully less about banking. The trade will miss you. Sadly, and I hope I’m wrong, you were one of the last human faces and interaction we could have with the high street banks. (That includes you too, Phil!) Enjoy your well earned retirement. Although I suspect your feet won’t be ‘up’ for long.
Good luck 👍 💓 Lee Baker
