Women helping women: Yesterday evening I hosted an introductory session for lawyers who may be interested in joining a support group. During the session, one female junior attorney asked a female senior attorney to mentor her in a certain field of practice and her request was gladly granted. It was heartwarming to witness this. Perhaps we women in the legal profession can be inspired by this example. Reach out for support. Give support. Yes, it is true that we operate in an adversarial system and that we are in competition with each other for work. But more importantly: we are colleagues. Women need other women who can relate to what it feels like to be a woman in what is essentially, even to this day, a man's world.

Half a decade of lawbreaking! Where did that go?! International Women's Day sees our movement of women in law turn five years old. What started off as a dinner table conversation at an innovation conference in London in 2018 became a global community of thousands of women who all share the same mission: the break the law, for the better. Why did we start She Breaks the Law? ⚡Because we didn't like the 'lawyer' and 'non-lawyer' distinction - so we created an inclusive community for women from all backgrounds and disciplines in the legal ecosystem ⚡Because was wanted to create a safe space for women to come together and be their authentic selves, to connect, share, develop and learn together ⚡Because we wanted to break down silos, promote collaboration and accelerate the pace of transformation in the legal industry. Fast forward five years - we are a thriving community of nearly 4k women from 50+ countries with a following of 8k. We have worked so hard to create and fuel this amazing movement - and now we need you to help us sustain and continue to do our good work with the creation of our brand new strand: 💥 She Powers 💥 We want to partner with people and businesses who share our mission around creating a collaborative safe space for women in law. Partners who will join us in our events and in the community to play an active part in helping us create and drive change and give women a voice. So stop making the woman montages to show your support for equality in legal and instead think about whether you could help power our wonderful community of lawbreakers into 2024 and beyond. Meanwhile, the biggest of thanks to all our lawbreakers who make this community what it is. If you would like to chat about this, please contact: [email protected] #ShePowers #IWD2024 #WomenEmpoweringWomen #InspireInclusion
