“When faced with global challenges, we can either be part of the problem or part of the solution.”
Traditional learning often confines knowledge to textbooks and exams, but Project Based Learning (PBL) brings it to life.
Dr. Archana Shukla, Govt. CM RISE Mahatma Gandhi school BHEL Bhopal shares how students at her school are breaking free from conventional methods, using PBL to apply their studies to practical scenarios. In a recent experiment, they questioned “Could plants respond to our emotions?” This intriguing question led 11th-grade biology students in Bhopal to undertake a PBL project that connected them with nature in a profound way, raising deeper questions about the connections between humans and the environment. Project-Based Learning here isn’t just about science—it’s about empathy, exploration.

Lighting the Way: Young Innovators Shine Bright
In the heart of Bondgaon Devi village, Maharashtra, lies Manavta Vidyalaya, where young minds are nurtured to think big and make a difference. Under my guidance, a group of 6th-grade girls took on a special project – creating a sensor-based toilet light for handicapped individuals.
Using simple tools like Arduino Uno boards, IR sensor modules, relay modules, bulb holders, bulbs, and jumper wires, these girls turned a basic idea into something truly impactful. They noticed how hard it was for handicapped people, especially those with vision impairments, to use the toilet at night without fumbling for the light switch.
So, they came up with a solution: a light that turns on automatically when someone enters the bathroom, without the need to touch anything. This not only made life easier for handicapped individuals but also brought a sense of independence and dignity.
Their idea wasn't just about technology; it was about empathy and understanding the needs of their community. And as their project came to life, it brought smiles to the faces of everyone around – teachers, parents, and fellow students alike.
These young innovators remind us that even the simplest ideas can have a big impact when fueled by compassion and creativity. They truly lit up the path towards a more inclusive and brighter future for all.

I'm happy to share that I was selected in the Top 10 teams for the Brahmastra Case Study Competition organized by the Public Policy and Opinion Cell, IIT Kanpur! 🎉
This competition, in partnership with IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Roorkee, focused on public policy research and solving real-world problems. It was a great experience to be part of this event!
The competition had three rounds:
Round 1: A 20-minute quiz to test our thinking skills.
Round 2: We submitted a presentation with our solution to a public policy issue.
Round 3: The Top 10 teams presented their solutions at IIT Kanpur.
Even though we didn’t make it to the Top 3, the experience taught me a lot about research, teamwork, and problem-solving. I'm grateful for the chance to be part of such an amazing event and for all the support I received. 🙏
This competition has inspired me to continue learning and working on solutions that can make a difference!
