It’s no surprise that I am a huge advocate of civic leadership; however, I may not have shared my “why” behind that passion in a while. 1.Strengthening Communities: Engaging in civic leadership allows us to shape and build a sense of place. We can address a variety of local challenges, whether it's improving public services, supporting education or fostering a more inclusive environment. 2.Building Trust and Reputation: Transparency is key. Companies foster trust and build a positive reputation through their values and actions. At Graham Associates, my partners and I are committed to supporting our community not just through engineering, but in our everyday actions. 3.Cultivating Future Leaders: What we do today impacts tomorrow in every way. At Graham Associates, Inc., my partners and I are mentoring the next generation of amazing civil engineers. But we want our team to also be amazing citizens. We must lead by example. We must be willing to take an active role in the community and lead by example.

Conflict is inevitable in any leadership role. In fact, it is often impossible to avoid if you really want to make a difference in your organization. Navigating it creates so much anxiety in us because we are afraid of hurting our reputation, failing, or ending relationships. As women in leadership, conflict is even more tricky because we are expected to behave and act in a friendly and likable way. This feels like the opposite of conflict, doesn’t it? In this engaging and empowering program, KJ McNamara helps audience to dive into why we are so triggered by conflict as well as explore different approaches and tools that help us find a resolution. Today, KJ is with our Partner of the Year, Northwestern State University, to share her message of "How To Fight Fair: Navigating Conflict as a Woman in Leadership." Thank you for hosting KJ today, we are honored to serve you.

At our most recent C12 Central Texas Leadership Series, Josh Arrington reminded us that our values and beliefs aren't just something we hold; they are the foundation for the solutions we bring to our workplaces, communities, and political spheres. As CEOs, we have the unique opportunity—and responsibility—to partner with Christ and be part of the solution. We are not just running businesses; we are shaping communities, and we must lead with compassion and conviction! How is God leading you to be the change right where you are?
