As a law student, I had the privilege of delivering a lecture on the topic "How can we address issues of extremism in the eyes of the law?" as a speaker in a study circle conducted by the Latif Council, Government College University (GCU), Lahore. Throughout the discussion, I covered Sections 295(a), 295(b), 295(c), and 298 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which deal with blasphemy and protection from religious extremism. Moreover, I also emphasized the right to a free and fair trial (Article 10A of the Constitution) for every accused individual in blasphemy cases. #Blasphemy #Blasphemylaws #PPC #Constitution #Lawyer #Lawstudent #extremism

The Pretoria High Court's recent decision to declare sections of the Sexual Offences Act unconstitutional is a pivotal moment in South Africa's legal landscape. The judgment addresses a critical issue concerning the subjective belief in consent often used by rape perpetrators as a defense. By shifting the legal test to an objective standard, the court has strengthened protections for survivors of sexual violence, ensuring that accused individuals must take reasonable steps to confirm consent. This marks a significant progression in the fight against rape and sexual violence, providing survivors with greater avenues for justice. #LegalReform #JusticeForSurvivors #HumanRights https://lnkd.in/dJbSb_69

Urgent Human Rights Concern: Protecting Minority Girls in Pakistan 🚨 UN experts have raised serious concerns over the lack of protection for Christian and Hindu girls in Pakistan, who are facing forced religious conversions, abduction, trafficking, and early marriages. Shockingly, many of these coerced marriages are validated by courts, and law enforcement often dismisses these crimes as "love marriages," allowing perpetrators to escape justice. It’s time for stronger legal protections and enforcement to safeguard these girls' rights.
